Parsons is seeking a Transportation Planner who will develop utilization plans for land and physical facilities of cities, counties, and metropolitan areas for transit agencies and transportation departments. The successful candidate will plan, schedule, conduct, and/or coordinate detailed phases of urban / environmental planning work on large and important transportation deliverables. The individual will a have a diverse knowledge of planning principles, practices and theories. Most assignments involve the use of industry standard transport planning software. More specifically, you will:
Gather, compile, and analyze data on economic, social, and physical factors affecting land use
Confer with local authorities, civic leaders, social scientists, and land planning and development specialists to devise, recommend and arrange transportation improvements such as rail and bus transit, roadway, pedestrian and bicycle facilities
Research governmental measures affecting transportation, land use, public utilities, community facilities, and housing to control and guide community and transportation corridor development
Review and evaluate environmental assessments and impact reports regarding transportation related elements
Assist in preparing Federal Transit Administration New/Small Starts planning and project development efforts and report submittals
Coordinate transportation system and corridor plans, as well as alternatives analysis and feasibility studies
المهارات
4-year degree in Transport Planning or related field required from an accredited institution, and a Master’s degree in Planning preferred
5 to 10 years of related work experience, with 3 years of transit planning experience
Thorough knowledge of transportation planning practices and procedures
Proficiency in industry standard transport planning software - TransCAD, Synchro / Sim Traffic, PTV Vissim.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a thorough understanding of local statutes and environmental rules and regulations
