Duties and Responsibilities
Performs his/her duties and tasks as per Hospital Policy and Agreement on Professional Code of Conduct.
Actively participates in all quality and performance improvement activities within the department/service and within the hospital as per Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Plan.
Actively participates in all the education requirement and activities as per the Hospital Education Program.
Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the scope of practice and employment contract.
To prepare, cook and serve all food of all types, either on a regular basis or for specials guests or functions.
Determine quantities to be cooked and size of portions to be served, taking into diets to meet medical and ethnic and personal needs.
To ensure that all food is received fresh and safe when it enters the food service preparation area.
Ensures that station or food preparation area are cleaned and sanitized at the end of shift in line with the Infection Control Guidelines.
To operate all equipment and machinery in a correct and safe manner and to report any defects and / or possible safety hazards identified.
Ensures that all foods are cooked to the appropriate temperature.
Collaborate with the Senior Executive Chef and Lead Cook to prepare meals during dining hours.
Perform the hand washing techniques before and after preparation and cooking to avoid cross-contamination and food borne-illness.
Ensure that appropriate clothing, including head wear, is worn at all times in accordance to the Infection Control Policy Guideline in the Food Services.
Perform emergency procedure techniques when accident happens in the time of preparation of food or in the production area.
Reports to the Senior Executive Chef or Lead Cook any problems encountered during the process of preparation.
Practice personal hygiene and proper sanitation procedures. Wears personal protective equipment (or clothing) as required by the task, MSDS, facility policy.
Turn on, test monitor equipment at the beginning of the day and operate all equipment and machinery in a correct and safe manner and to report any defects and / or possible safety hazards identified.
Exhibit professional behavior of a reliable employee with courtesy and understanding to patients, staff, and visitors.
Participate in formal and informal training and participates in fire safety demonstrations and fire drills, and knows the facility fire and disaster plan.
Perform preparation duties for the next day, re-stock kitchen for subsequent shifts.

Knowledge of the Food Hygiene Regulations and Responsibilities.
Knowledge in acquiring new techniques and equipment used in cooking.
A wide variety of knowledge in any type of cuisine (multi-national).
Extensive knowledge in preparing and serving well-presented and attractive meals to individual requirements.
Knowledge of safety rules and procedures in the kitchen.
Able to demonstrate knowledge of sanitation practices and follow all sanitation and infection control procedures are required.
Able to understand, speak, read and write English language with a reasonable standard of fluency and able to follow instructions.
Possess a positive attitude and commitment to providing nutritious meals and offer a range of choices including to those with specific dietary requirements.
Able to work in a high pace and hot environment.
Ability to work on own initiative and teamwork spirit.
Be able to work at flexible hours including weekends, holidays and different shifts and longer hours as deemed necessary.
Dependable, punctual and able to work at flexible working hours.
Professional communication skills, appearance and behavior.
Must have problem-solving abilities, be self-motivated and organized.
Multi-tasking capability without compromising on quality.
Ability to build positive relationships with high level of interpersonal skills.
