Duties and Responsibilities
Performs his/her duties and tasks as per Hospital Policy and Agreement on Professional Code of Conduct.
Actively participates in all quality and performance improvement activities within the department /service and within the hospital as per Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Plan.
Actively participates in all the education requirement and activities as per the Hospital Education Program.
Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the scope of practice and employment contract.
Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care in accordance with established Policies and Guidelines: provides guidance.
direction and coordination for assigned personnel in activities directed towards standards of patient care, safety and Infection Control.
Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates individual patient care.
Performs a variety of supportive and technical nursing skills and utilizes a range of equipment, supplies, medications, treatments, monitoring techniques and other diagnostic, therapeutic and supportive measures in carrying out medical orders.
Initiates and performs a range of nursing measures based on patient needs related to physical and mental comfort, positioning and mobilization, nutrition and hydration. bowel and bladder elimination, care of skin and wounds.

Establishes therapeutic relationships with patients/families and elicits their participation in care.
Assumes responsibility for quality of care delivered to patients.
Collaborates with other health care team members in planning and providing safe and comprehensive care.
Takes charge of the unit in the absence of the person responsible as required or requested.
Ensures patient confidentiality is maintained and patient rights are upheld.
Communicates and provides accurate and complete information through established verbal and written reports.
Recognizes emergency situations and takes appropriate action, providing clinical guidance, direction and coordination of activities for auxiliary staff.
Adheres to and enforces staff compliance with Policies and Guidelines. Recommends corrective action plans as necessary.
Participates in aspects of the unit’s total nursing program, such as multidisciplinary patient care conferences, staff orientation, continuing education, unit meetings, continuous quality improvement, special projects and offers suggestions for improving services.
Exercises professional behaviour and is responsible for his/her actions as a Registered Nurse.
Acts as mentor and assists with orientation of new staff.
Participates in the on-going training and development program of the department/unit.
Participates in environmental safety awareness such as CPR, Disaster. Fire and Infection Control.
Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement and Patient Safety (CQ1 & PS) activities.
Reports any significant change in patients’ condition to appropriate senior nurse and/or responsible Physician.
Serves as a Charge Nurse as assigned by the Head Nurse In the absence of Head Nurse/Assistant Head Nurse may function as an Acting Head Nurse for a specified period of time.
Performs other applicable tasks and duties within the realm of his/her knowledge.skills and abilities.
Assists with arterial line insertion and care.
Assists with chest tube insertion and care.
Participates with Code Blue Management as per resuscitation policy.
Assists with central line insertion and care.
Preparation. administration and monitoring of Intravenous Admixtures.
Care of patients on mechanical ventilation.
Monitors patients undergoing procedural sedation including management of complications.
Preparation, maintenance and discontinuation of Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT).
Assists with pulmonary catheter insertion and care.
المهارات
Care of patients with External Ventricular Drain (EVD).
Care of patients with Pulse Contour Output (PICCO).
Knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement.
Knowledge of Infection Control International Standards.
Knowledge of Joint Commissions International (JCI) requirements and standards.
