Role Description:
To support pharmacological services by stocking, assembling, and distributing medications, in order to meet quality standards within patient regulations and methods, and AlDara’s adopted policies and procedures.
Key Accountabilities:
Prescription Management:
Maintain pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed medications and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; removing outdated drugs
Organize medications for pharmacist to dispense by reading medication orders and prescriptions; preparing labels; calculating quantities; assembling intravenous solutions and other pharmaceutical therapies
Ensure medication availability by assisting the pharmacist in processing prescriptions and departmental orders and delivering medications to patients and departments
Maintain a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols
Ensure that the security and proper storage of drugs is maintained
Administrative Support:
Charge medications (prescription and no-prescription) and supplies used to the patient record
Maintain records by recording and filing physicians’ orders and prescriptions
Assure medical insurance claims and payments are processed
Policies, Processes and Procedures:
Follow all relevant Pharmacy’s policies, procedures, and controls so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner
Participate in the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account leading practices, improvement of business processes, cost reduction, and productivity improvement
Promote the implementation and adherence to policies, procedures, and controls to others within AlDara Report on changes within AlDara that impact relevant policies, procedures and controls
المهارات
Necessary Knowledge and Experience:
2-3 years of experience in Pharmacy and patient care
Understand and meet the criteria and standards developed by the Joint Commission International and appropriate standards for a hospital facility
Education and Certification Requirements:
A Diploma and a Pharmacy Technician Certification is required
Registration with Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
Competencies / Skills:
Basic pharmacy and math skills
General knowledge of pharmacy instruments and equipment
General knowledge of a wide range of medical conditions and preventative services
Quality assurance, Basic knowledge of uses and effects of medications, and knowledge of patient rights
Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English, as necessary to perform the essential duties of the position
Ability to us a computer, printer, fax, telephone
Ability to distinguish colors, effective hand-eye coordination
