Role Summary

SAR is looking for a driven Network Operations Manager to manage and direct the Network Operations team on a consistent basis, the professional management of railway network operations and effective leadership of operational safety and train service delivery.

In addition, taking the responsibly for supporting the day-to-day network operations.

This includes ensuring compliance with operating rules, regulations and procedures, incident investigation, coordination and monitoring safe infrastructure asset utilisation.

An ideal candidate will have strong communication skills as this job requires to communicate within internal stakeholders i.e. Passenger Business Unit, Mineral & Cargo Business Unit, Infrastructure Maintenance, SAR Projects, Health, Safety & Environment, Rolling Stock Maintenance. As well as external such as Public Transport Authority, Royal Commission, Ma’aden and SAR External Contractors.

Key Accountabilities

Manage the Network Operations team acting as a role model and mentor, implementing SAR policies professionally and efficiently.

As required, undertake the role of Rail Incident Commander (RIC), overseeing that the command structure is set up and lead the coordination of the infrastructure and service restoration activities.

Lead the development of suitable operational rules, processes and procedures to ensure safe daily railway operations.

Lead verification checks within the NP&M;department.

Lead on the development and continuous improvement of Competency Management Systems within the Network Planning and Management (NP&M;) team.

Support SAR Project teams, acting as a Railway Operations Subject Matter Expert during all phases of project delivery.

Lead the implementation and support development of operational risk mitigation plans, to include Level Crossings, SPADs, Route crime, seasons management and other operational activities.

Manage and maintain an effective working partnership with the Infrastructure Maintenance department so that maintenance activities deliver outputs required for train service delivery.

Lead Network Planning and Management (NP&M;) compliance with the relevant operational standards, processes and procedures.
