Role Description:
The post-holder will be expected to manage effective business relationships with a wide stakeholder group, together with international suppliers and sub-contractors at senior management level. They will take ownership of optical solutions, DWDM, link budgeting, ISP & OSP.
4. Core Responsibilities and Duties
General:
In addition to the primary objectives and functions, the following tasks shall be conducted on a regular basis:
To assist FRA team to manage project exceptions throughout the project lifecycle.
Design fixed line networks based on optical link budget calculations.
Design & plan DWDM network expansion.
Enable end to end services by integration of various network technologies
Able to review OTDR and Power Meter results
Able to perform link budgeting on fibre links and optimise systems accordingly.
Ensure risks are defined, maintained, reported and mitigation plans are followed to reduce project risk and exploit opportunities.
Assist FRA team to ensure all projects follow thorough testing and acceptance practices in order to ensure project outputs meet requirements and standards as agreed with the customer.
Develop effective working relationships and trust with the customer and sub-contractors.
Act decisively and communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
Adopt a disciplined approach to ensure effective project planning and control.
Apply KBR’s lifecycle management processes to all assigned projects as appropriate.
Contribute to the population of project data management systems as appropriate.
Contribute to the development of project data management systems as appropriate.
Specific:
Responsible for reviewing KBR fibre break Action Reports / Damage Reports and creating Repair Scope for Contractors.
Reviewing Contractor’s Method Statement & BoQ submissions, supporting contractors in any reviews/ amendments and ultimately Declining or Accepting submission to allow Fibre Repair team to progress to next stage of repair process.
Reviewing technical queries from contractors post Acceptance to ensure KBR requirements are met.
Reviewing changes to repair requirement due to changes in scope (additional damage found etc) and reviewing amended contractor Method Statement &/or BoQ and authorising change for processing by Fibre Repair team.
Reviewing final Repair Submission documentation from contractor for Acceptance.
Manage preparation and delivery of VTC submissions for KBR.
Experience and Skills:
At least 3 years’ experience working on a fibre design role
At least 3 years’ experience in OSP installation.
At least 3 years of testing or reviewing OTDR & Power Meter results
At least 1 year experience in designing DWDM networks
