Job Description and Requirements You will have 7 years of experience in EH&S;, including a subspecialty in Process Safety Management (OSHA 1910.119) and/or training as a professional EH&S;advisor from a recognized and accredited entity. You should have experience in research laboratory operations and safety management. You must possess Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified International Hygienist (CIH), Charter Member of IOSH, or equivalent international certificates. It is preferred that you have working knowledge of safety and process standards, including: NFPA, ASME, ANSI, and OSHA. Duties & Responsibilities: Provide advice and consultation to department staff to assist them in maintaining a safe working environment in compliance with international, and local environmental/safety regulations, standards, and practices. Plan, direct and perform EH&S;studies and services. Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace and develop controls for identified hazards. Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control system, policies, and procedures and recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate work place incidents and injuries. Conduct surveys, and analyze and develop programs for enhancing safety culture. Implement inherently safer design, process safeguarding and human factor engineering in research facilities and laboratories. Selection and design of fire protection equipment, and engineering design calculations for equipment used in research facilities and laboratories. Develop risk management plans, escape, evacuation and rescue scenarios. Conduct safety studies and reviews (i.e., HAZOP, HAZID, What-If, Bow-Tie, SIL, ALARP and other). |
