JOB SUMMARY:
A specialist is responsible for providing the care of his/her patients (inpatient) maintaining a high-level of professional performance in accordance with:
1.Professional Saudi medical ethics
2.Hospital medical by-laws
3.Laws of Ministry of Health in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and any other applicable regulations according to the departmental quality plan.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Can admit patients from the hospital ER after appropriate discussion and approval of the consultant under whose name admission is done.
2.Evaluates new admission and coordinates with consultant a plan of investigation to establish a diagnosis and a management course. Executes the plan approved by the consultant.
3.Conducts daily ward rounds to all inpatients in the department. Liaises with the concerned consultant with regards to care of his inpatient.
4.Documents plan of patient management and maintain appropriate records of all patient with accurate, timely legible completion of patient’s medical records. Keeping an updated follow up in the progress notes.
5.Should seek the advice or help of the consultant whenever the condition of a patient merits further expertise. Works under supervision and instructions of assigned consultant.
6.Participates actively in the on-call Rota of the department for patient care and admissions.
7.Responds to emergencies to offer medical care and advice on problems related to his/her specialty.
8.Assists senior staff (consultant) in performing diagnostic or therapeutic procedures to patients in his field of specialty.
9.Supervise the junior staff in conducting their duties and responsibilities as designated by the department.
10.Actively participates in department’s educational and training activities.
11.Abides by department policies and procedures as well as hospital by-laws, rules and regulations.
12.To carry out any other assignments as directed by the head of department and within the realm of his knowledge, skills and liabilities.
13.For burn surgeries excision and grafting, he will be privileged to operate with permission of consultant.

1.EDUCATION / LICENSURE
1.1Saudi Council accredited as Registrar
1.2Accepted by department and pass the evaluation period as regulated by the Ministry.
2.PROFESSIONAL / EXPERIENCE
Desirable:
2.1Minimum of two (2) years in his/her specialty after obtaining Master’s Degree
2.2Higher qualification in his/her specialty if any.
3. SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
3.1Fluent in verbal and written English.
3.2Exhibits professionalism and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
3.3Is knowledgeable of the Saudi Medical by-laws.
