Job Description
Discovery Life Sciences are the Biospecimen and Biomarker Specialists™ serving thousands of scientists across the U.S. and around the world. With our expertise in IHC services focused on oncology, inflammatory diseases, as well as other disease states, we are developing novel cancer tests to improve cancer patient outcomes. We are looking for a standout Laboratory Associate to join our team. This position will be responsible for supporting the Project Manager throughout the duration of a project.
Responsibilities:
Operate basic laboratory equipment (PCR machine, gel electrophoresis, tabletop centrifuge, etc.) and troubleshoot basic problems
Execute assignments according to protocol established by lead investigator in methodology
Convert measurements and prepare chemical solutions and buffers, as required
Manage concurrent tasks in varying stages of completion
Maintain an accurate and up-to-date laboratory notebook tracking work as required
Participate in general lab maintenance such as cleaning freezers, shared lab space and equipment, and stocking shared reagents and consumables
Respect the privacy of the personal information of patients, co-workers, and all individuals with whom the Company interacts
Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to the Company and its operations
Other duties as assigned
Education/Requirements:
Candidates must have a B.S. or A.S. in a scientific discipline.
Successful candidates must be able to multitask, maintain organized records, display keen attention to detail, efficiently manage several projects simultaneously, think outside of the box and develop creative solutions to problems.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication as well as presentation skills are critical.
You must be able to work in a team environment that values open and honest communication, embraces challenge, innovation and continuous improvement, works hard and loves to have fun, is fast-paced and displays a can-do attitude.
Some familiarity with general laboratory equipment such as microscopes, centrifuges, pipettes, etc. is required.
Experience in biomarker research and coursework in genomics are preferred, but not required.
