SHIPPING CLERK
Description
Reporting to the Transportation Supervisor, the Traffic Clerk is responsible for coordinating carriers for outbound and inbound operations. This person coordinates drivers, carriers, equipment with the operations, vendors and customers.
Key Responsibilities
· Coordinate carrier assignment and transportation routings · Verifying carriers and appointments with customer service and the carriers · Ensure accurate and quality of transportation routings · Ensure accurate transportation operations through detailed and accurate work · Perform routine tasks including some clerical, customer service and transportation related · Communicate issues that occur to supervisor · Work with peers in order to complete outbound and inbound operations effectively · Assist shipping and inbound clerks as needed · Maintain dock safety through proper communication and escalation · Work on special projects as directed · Responsible for carrying out company policy and initiatives
Requirements
· High School Diploma or equivalent required. · Warehouse experience preferred · Able to work overtime as needed · Hazardous materials experience highly desired · Forklift experience a plus
Knowledge – Skills – Abilities
· Overall knowledge of warehouse equipment, and communication skills (both oral and written) · Proficient with PC applications such as Email, Word, and Excel; printers; RF Scanner; WMS systems · Knowledge of inventory control systems and warehouse operations · Strong attention to details, organization ability and ability to interact well with others · Exhibits professionalism · Ability to work well under minimal supervision
Physical Requirements
· Ability to work in a chemical manufacturing plant environment · Occasionally may be required to reach, squat, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. · Ability to stand for long periods of time
