The Job Opportunity
As a Crew Chief on an International Airport, and part of the fire and rescue crew and/or a 4-man structural fire crew, you will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and operational effectiveness of the crew on your vehicle.
Key Accountabilities:
* To actively promote Health and Safety, Welfare and all Environment issues.
* Drive a range of fire vehicles (If required), routinely and at a speed conducive to the conditions, whilst attending emergency calls. Position vehicles so they can be best utilised effectively, operationally and tactically, this will assist crews to use all equipment competently, during all operational/ training conditions.
* Crew Chiefs are to carry out maintenance of skills training during each shift in accordance with the Fire Station (MOST) syllabus. Records of all incidents attended, and any training sessions are to be maintained on the Fire Station training system for all firefighters.
* In a supervisor?s role the Crew Chief will exercise command and control of those firefighters allocated to their appliance at all incidents; additionally, they will exercise wider command and control on the fire ground in support of the station Captain.
* Crew Chiefs are to carry out Post incident issues, carry out on site debrief (hot debrief) to highlight any immediate lessons learnt. Carry out a full debrief of the incident following the return to normal duties ? this is to be documented using the correct format.
* The Crew Chief is to fully understand their role in the station Quality Assurance (QA) process, be fully conversant with QA documentation and be prepared to be pro-active in the identification and prevention of problems. This may result in implementing appropriate change to the management procedures working practices, which are aimed at continually improving the service provided by the section.
What we are looking for in our candidates:
* Work in a category six (6) or above airport
* Qualified in NFPA 1001 ? Firefighter I and II
* Qualified in NFPA 1002 ? Driver Operator
* Qualified in NFPA 1003 ? Airport Firefighter
* Qualified in NFPA 1041 ? Instructor I
* Qualified in NFPA 1031 ? Inspector I
* Qualified in NFPA 472 ? Hazardous Materials Awareness and Technician
* Qualified in NFPA Incident Safety Officer
* Skilled as Breathing Apparatus Instructor
* Capable to use High Reach Extendable Turret
* Good English communication skills
Specific requirements:
* Qualified in NFPA 1021 ? Officer I
* Experience working as Airport Firefighter or Firefighter/Driver Operator
* Hold a clean driving license
