The primary duty of a Cardio Vascular Perfusionist is the operations of the Heart-Lung machine and provides cardiovascular perfusion for a patient cardiac or non cardiac surgery.
Reviews patient’s medical history such as pathological stage and infections, type of surgery planned for conditions and diagnosis.
Follows priming protocols for adults, paediatric and infants. Priming the circuit with fluids as per protocol or in consultation with surgeon/anaesthetist for any special care.
Uses of drugs in priming solutions as per protocol for adults paediatric and infants. Addition of other drugs and their doses only on the advice of the anaesthetist.
Assembles and prepares additional equipment as per requirement of the surgery or patient care, before, after, during or after bypasses namely IABP etc.

Knowledge of Safety and Environmental concerns according to Fakeeh Care policy and procedure.
Monitors and reports any issuesrelated to safety in the immediate work area i.e. frayed or tattered electrical cords, faulty equipment that poses a risk to staff operating it, maintaining a clean uncluttered work area.
Is able to verbalize and demonstrate understanding of the reporting mechanism (OVR system) for any risk identified in the performance of job duties.
Is able to identify appropriate waste procedures for office materials (paper, empty ink cartridges) and equipment as to not pose an environmental contamination risk.
Is able to verbalize understanding of safety procedures in the event of an internal or external disaster and the role they will participate in.
