-General *Degree in Electrical Engineering * Involved with engineering, development of scopes of work and technical specifications, review of contract documents, in-process inspection, and testing/commissioning of telecommunications and SCADA networks/systems for an Electric Utility and others. 2-Telecommunications * Involved with the telecommunications networks/systems included Fiber Optics Terminal Equipment (SDH/PDH), Fiber Optics Cable (Optical Ground Wire/Underground), PABX, DC Power Systems and LAN/WAN. 3-SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition)/Smart Grid * Involved with operations, maintenance and engineering of SCADA Master Station hardware systems, and SCADA Remote Terminal Units. * As part of responsibilities, work with diagnostics to assist in troubleshooting of SCADA Master Station hardware. * Also involved with SCADA RTU engineering activities which included the development of sizing of SCADA RTU’s for required quantities of analogs, and digital points and development of point’s lists and wiring lists/diagrams to support the installation of SCADA RTU’s inside electric utility substations. Also performed some basic SCADA RTU programming. * Also, as part of SCADA system design, was involved in determining Electric Power Grid requirements to be interfaced as part of SCADA Master Station design (such as new substations, power transmission line requirements and other requirements to be placed in Master Station “Builds” for new SCADA systems). * Familiar with DNP, IEC and MODBUS communications protocols used in SCADA. 4-SAS (Substation Automation Systems)/Smart Grid * Involved with writing design specifications and scopes of work for construction and implementation of SAS installations involving integrated protection and control (SCADA) for new substations. * Performed construction oversight of contractor’s installation of new SAS equipment and systems in new substations. * Very familiar with the IEC 61850 substation communications protocol which is used to communicate between IED’s, and between IED’s and substation communications/computer equipment used in Substation Automation. 5-Project/Program Management * As part of role, supervised the development of conceptual engineering packages, provided oversight of telecoms project management activities, supervised construction work, and coordinated with operations and maintenance organizations during the project acceptance phase. |
