Our client in Saudi Arabia is looking for Coating Line Operator to join their operations. This position reports directly to the Can Sheet Supervisor.
Overall Job Purpose
• The Coating Line Operator observes machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects or deviations from standards and make adjustment, as necessary.
• He is responsible for controlling the operations of the line and operations of equipment of the Coating Line entry, process, and exit section.
• He shall assist the Lead Operator in preparing the rolling schedule and storing of coils for production.
• And he should monitor and control the process parameters of coater line and minimise the process defects.

Job Relevant Information (Boundaries and Decision-making Authority)
General Safety, Health and Quality System Responsibilities
• In the work place, wear always required PPEs and follow safe work practices as per EHS policies & procedures.
• Identify and evaluate potential / existing safety problems, suggesting solutions and recommending suitable corrective measures
• Provide an open means by which subordinates / sub-contractors can communicate safety concerns, when possible action the items and when not ensure these are passed to personnel / sections for further actions.
• Actively participate in implementation of Maaden Safety Policy by example and communication to subordinates.
• Report, investigate and monitor near misses/incidents in area of control, conduct and participate in all activities relating removal of hazards in your work area.
• Assist with identification of hazards arising from activities in work area, ensuring that all are communicated to relevant personnel in order to maintain a hazard free work area.
• Follow the procedures and instructions related to EHS within the scope of the work area.
Entry section:
• Input coil selection, loading and preparation.
• Control operations of entry section equipment like loading section, scrap removal, spools handling, strip joining, side trimmer operation.
• Monitor and control Entry pulpit operation.
• Monitor and controls entry section process parameters.
• Collects sample of input materials for PT lab testing.
Process section:
• Operate and monitors process section equipment parameters of level flex, pretreatment section, cleaning section, lacquer/chemical ovens, RTO, and dryers.
• Arrange paint and pretreatment chemicals as required.
• Monitor Lacquer coater, chemical coater parameters during production run.
• Monitor the stock level of pretreatment chemicals, paint and other consumables and give feedback to production supervisor.
• Prepare chemicals as required and maintain concentration.
• Provide chemical solution samples to PT lab for analysis.
Exit section:
• Operate exit section equipment including oiler machine operation.
• Control Start-up & operate Waxer equipment.
• Rewind the coils and unloads the winded coils.
• Use scrap winders for separation of ID /OD scraps.
• Handle and manages scrap and spools in exit section. Collect samples for laboratory testing.
• Monitor and give feedback about process defects to quality operator and to other section operators to take corrective action.
• Handle weighment & taping head strip of the finish coils before moving to coil yard.
• Maintain Production and Quality records for the shift and report to Shift Supervisor.
• Maintain inventory of steel/cardboard spools and other packing materials as per production schedule.
Lacquer/Chemical Coater:
• Prepares the coating materials as per the requirement and maintains required viscosity and other properties.
• Maintain coating parameters by achieving required thickness as per customer requirement.
• Responsible for achieving high quality of coated material, must minimize or eliminate customer complaint.
• Change applicator rolls and pans and after lacquer coating changed or as per requirement.
• Calibrate top/bottom rolls after every roll change and whenever required.
• Clean pans and rolls during lacquer coating change and before any stoppage.
• Maintain inventory of applicator rolls, arrange used rolls for re-grinding.
• Eliminate wastage of coating materials by reducing spillage.
• Prepare and maintain conductivity of chromate tank.
• Maintain good housekeeping in lacquer coater/chemical coater area.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Educational Qualifications:
• Minimum high school is required. Minimum computer knowledge required. Must have good communication skills in written & oral in English.
Experience:
• Minimum 5 years operational experience in coating line.
• Detailed technical knowledge of the specific process being operated is required.
Skills:
• Must possess problem solving skills.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Computer knowledge is an advantage.
• Good command of the English language.
