Req Number: 19157BR
Position Description:
We are seeking a Naphtha Reforming Continuous Catalyst Regeneration (CCR) Process Engineer to join the Downstream Process Engineering Division of the Process & Control Systems Department.
The Downstream Process Engineering Division is responsible for providing process engineering support to Saudi Aramco and Saudi Aramco Joint Venture facilities.
The primary role of the Naphtha Reforming CCR Process Engineer is to provide process expertise in technologies for the reforming of naphtha for the production of gasoline blend stock or aromatics.
The expertise will be in support of preliminary project evaluation, project and technology selection, design reviews, commissioning support, process troubleshooting and process optimization.
Minimum Requirements:
As the successful candidate you will hold a Bachelor s degree in Chemical Engineering from a recognized and approved program. An advanced degree is preferred.
You will have a minimum of ten years experience in refinery or petrochemical operations and engineering, including at least ten years in Naphtha Reforming technologies for the production of reformate including Naphtha Hydrotreating and Catalytic Reforming (Semi-regen, cyclic or Continuous Catalyst Regeneration (CCR).
You will have at least five years experience with CCR technologies and be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of operation of the CCR and be able to explain and teach that understanding to others.
Experience with more than one operating facility is strongly desirable, as is experience with more than one process licensor technology (UOP or Axens)
You will have a solid background in the comparison of alternative catalysts and technologies for production of naphtha reformate, including the advantages and disadvantages of semi-regenerative reforming, cyclic reforming and CCR.
You will be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of the impact of new reforming catalysts and technologies from all major licensors and their potential application to Saudi Aramco assets.
Ideally, you will also have a background in the Isomerization technologies, as well as with downstream uses of reformate such as gasoline blending and aromatics complexes.
You will have a strong background in process simulation of naphtha reforming technologies for use in process studies, design reviews, and optimization.
You will possess strong mentorship skills with the ability and drive to guide the development of junior Naphtha Reforming process engineers as well as strong teaching abilities.
You will possess strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to summarize and explain complex processes and technologies in terms suitable for economic evaluations and strategic management decision making.
The ideal candidate will have authored publications or patents in the field of naphtha reforming technologies.
Duties & Responsibilities:
You will be required to perform the following:
Provide technical support for operating plants. Troubleshoot major plant upsets and/or chronic operational problems.
Engage technology licensor in discussions related to troubleshooting operating units as well as design of new process units with sufficient expertise to critically assess validity of licensor recommendations and provide management guidance related to acceptance of
licensor recommendations.
Review operation of existing units to identify improvement opportunities, potential problems, and remedies to existing problems.
Participate in the planning of operating plant turnaround activities necessary to ensure long term reliable operation.
Coordinate the execution of capacity increase studies with operating facility, licensor, detailed engineering design contractor. This
would involve setting the design basis and scope of work as require to ensure study is sufficiently comprehensive to satisfy objective.
Develop plans for reviewing and incorporating new technologies, catalysts and adsorbent in Saudi Aramco plants.
Conduct simulations studies using Saudi Aramco licensed process simulation software packages such as HYSYS. Utilize process models for new and existing facilities and assess ability of the model to deliver representative results.
Lead process design and engineering activities for new projects in conceptual, pre-FEED, FEED and Detailed Engineering phases.
Mentor and develop young Saudi Arab Engineers to become specialists.
Develop new and/or deliver existing technical courses for engineers from operating facilities.
Present technical papers in major international conferences and issue papers in reputable oil and gas journals.
Support research and pilot projects that will enhance CCR Reforming unit performance.
