To provide high quality care in Emergency Medicine (EM) for patients who present to the hospital’s Emergency Department (ED) and contribute to the development of emergency care services for the hospital’s catchment area population and the HSE region.
Clinical management and direction of the ED, in conjunction with other Consultant in EM colleagues.
Responsibility for the assessment and immediate care of all EM patients attending the ED and Emergency Care units.
Responsibility for the care of patients admitted under the care of the Consultants in EM to the ED Unit/ EM Observation ward.
To undertake essential supporting duties for clinical care including, inter alia, risk management, critical incident investigation and oversight of rosters.
To ensure that duties and functions are undertaken in a manner that minimizes delays for patients and possible disruption of services.
Ongoing participation in Major Incident Planning for the ED and the hospital.
Active participation in ED and hospital educational activities and the development of training and education in emergency care in the hospital and ECN.
Involvement in research activities in the department, as appropriate to a Consultant in EM post in the hospital.
A willingness to develop special interest aspects of EM as appropriate to one’s competencies, the ED and the hospital

Certified Physician with 8+ years total work experience
Minimum 3 years after obtaining Specialized certificate.
Good communication skills
