The safekeeping of a navigation watch at sea.
Assisting the chief officer with supervision and organization of loading/discharging work, when the vessel is in port.
The control &upkeep;of all navigational publications monitor the supply of notice to mariners and inform the Master if N to M fail to arrive as scheduled.
Ensure voyage and likely trading area charts are on board & corrected upto the latest notice to M/navigational warning.
Ensure that all charts are the most uo to date available and that they are correctly filed in the appropriate folio and that the old charts are suitable disposed for or stored away from the bridge and clearly marked cancelled.
Ensure that all navigational instruments lights and signal are tested and function correctly this is include gyro & magnetic compass , radar ,echo sounder, auto pilot GPS Etc.,,
The planning of passage and ensuring that the Master authorizes all routes and passages prior to sailing.
