Amec Foster Wheeler is currently looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to work on the engineering and project management services for an Unconventional Gas Development Program in Saudi Arabia. We are committed to managing the program from our Al-Khobar office where the project management team will be based for the duration of the contract. This represents an excellent development opportunity for individuals interested to work in Saudi Arabia, with most assignments expected to be for at least one year’s duration with the opportunity of further extension for the right candidates.
We have been awarded contracts by our client for the provision of engineering and project management services for their Unconventional Gas Development Program. The program covers current field development in 3 different parts of Saudi Arabia with potential further field developments to be added later as the Program develops and expands. The Unconventional Gas development program is focused on increasing gas production via the development of shale gas and tight gas resources in the Kingdom. The new sources of gas are intended to displace middle and heavy distillate fuels currently used in power generation within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Sound technical knowledge coupled with decision making skills are required to ensure the delivery of challenging project and client targets. The role will also require the candidate to have the attributes which will enable him / her to deputies for the Chief Civil Engineer as and when required
Understand the project drivers as advised by the client management and ensure that is the focus of the implementation. Understand and implement client expectations based upon published documentation
Understand all relevant client and associated Engineering Standards and National standards as they apply to the engineering work being undertaken
Review compliance with Client Engineering Standards, Specifications and National Standards
Participate in engineering discussions in resolution of issues
Respond to Technical Queries (TQ) as raised by the EPC Contractor
Respond with impartial unambiguous responses that do not contain preference engineered solutions
Seek technical clarification from Reading based Chief Engineers pursuant to resolution of issues raised by EPC Contractor that are not covered in in guidance documentation
Understand the working of the 3D engineering environments
Participate in all model reviews
Audit completed engineering deliverables, calculations and drawings prior to release
Monitor engineering execution against the planned delivery
Review Change notifications from EPC Contractor reporting back to management on acceptance, conditional acceptance or rejection
Report weekly back to client Core Team in the Home Office and Civil Department ManagerCompile monthly report to client management
المهارات
12 Years minimum industrial experience
The candidate will be degree qualified in an appropriate subject pursuant to being involved in civil technical issues
Membership of a professional body and Chartered Engineer is highly desired. This to include a demonstration of ongoing commitment to that body through Continuous Professional development (CPD)
The candidate will have a proven track record in Civil Engineering, especially in the Oil and Gas industry
Candidate will be fully familiar with terminology used and adopted in the Oil and Gas business
Candidate will have a range of technical abilities form the use of engineering and design software such as STAADPro / GTSTRUDL through to understanding of topographical, geophysical, geotechnical issues
The candidate shall be conversant and comfortable in engineering with any materials normally understood and used by civil and structural engineers
The successful candidate can bring, at appropriate times, innovation to the engineering process from their background
Be familiar with and able to work with Smart Plan Review (SPR) unsupervised to review engineering progress
Candidate will have taken leadership and responsible positions on project teams in the Oil and Gas business
Candidate will have a full understanding, from their experience, of thought processes for green field and brown field sites and the implication on the engineering of both
Candidate will have a proven track record in PMC roles and responsibilities
Overseas experience is preferred; experience in the Middle-East will be beneficial
High level of spoken and written EnglishPossess strong leadership and negotiation skills as the position will involve interface with the contractor’s engineers and designers and require the building of appropriate team relationships
