To be familiar with the technical aspects of marine repair and the practical aspects of marine operations, the administrative aspects of marine repair and the practical aspects of marine operations. The incumbent will be required to undertake and/or coordinate assignments with minimum
supervision such as the following:
a. Project Engineering/Technical Support: Coordinate and define new vessel building projects from concept to delivery. Responsible for the identification and integration of classification society and regulatory body requirements into both new building projects and existing vessel modifications. Project value will vary from $25 m for individual vessel alterations where the incumbent is the technical approval authority, to a new construction program valued from $10mm, where the incumbent is an integral part of the project team.
b. Port Engineering/Vessels Reliability Technical Support Provide a comprehensive, cost effective maintenance and repair service to various vessels within the Saudi Aramco fleet which includes routine vessel inspections, preparation of detailed written repair specifications, labor and material estimates and on-site inspection during refit. Acts as the operating proponent superintendent’s representative, to ensure the proper and most cost-effective mode of repair (or replacement) for items of vessel’s equipment. Conducts pre and post repair trials of all equipment and accepts the vessel prior to it being placed back in service. Ensures that all necessary repairs/inspections are accomplished to classification society standards. The value of maintenance refits for vessels varies from $7 mm to
$10mm per vessel and the incumbent will be responsible for progressive inspection and certifying as complete 5 to 8 refits annually.
c. Maintenance Coordination
Provide comprehensive support in the planning and accomplishment of ship repair activities. Specific areas of responsibility will include planning, quality assurance, diagnostics, material identification, review/resolution of labor and material identification, review/resolution of labor and material estimates and the scheduling of work for accomplishment, consistent with available manpower and other operational and material constraints. The value of refit work administered annually is $7 10 mm which includes work accomplished by contractor personnel, assigned shift maintenance workers, as well as work accomplished by others as below-the-line expense.
d. The incumbent is expected to work either independently, or as a member of a team effort. In either case, he is expected to carry out his assignments with minimal technical guidance and
assistance.
