• Responsible for ensuring that all machine shop activities performed in the facility are carried out in accordance with the agreed contract requirements. Ensures compliance of safety rules as well as company policies and practices.
Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities
• Allocates daily work schedules to machinists, ensuring sufficient tools and equipment are available to complete the operation.
• Mentors and trains less experienced machinists.
• Ensures that all machine shop employees follow safety rules and receive proper training on use of shop equipment.
• Ensures shop equipment is functioning properly and has adequate and functioning safety guards.
• Performs month safety checks on all lifting equipment in conjunction with the HSE Manager.
• Performs weekly safety and environmental tool box talks for all department employees.
• Ensures that company policies and practices are being complied within the shop area.
• Serves as a back-up for the machine shop supervisor when he is not available.
• Achieve or improve committed on time deliveries.
• Zero lost time accidents.
• Reduction in costs/wastage and scrap.
All employees/operatives will:
• Ensure the implementation of the Company EHS Policy for the prevention of injury, damage or loss to Company personnel and resources.
• Adhere to the risk assessment controls identified.
• Not interfere or misuse any equipment supplied.
• Maintain equipment supplied for carrying out work tasks including daily maintenance where appropriate.
• Use personal protective equipment supplied in accordance with site risk assessments and site rules.
• Attend any suitable training to ensure that they are competent to perform their duties safely.
• Comply with any rules specific to a particular site and any Company wide health, safety or environmental requirements.
• Report any injuries, unsafe acts or conditions to line managers.
• Support EHS policy to help deliver cultural development and sustained continual improvement in EHS performance.
