Legal Advisor

الوصف الوظيفي
The lawyer at this level has become a specialist in a particular field. Likely to lead a group of lawyers undertaking work in the area of specialty or on larger more complex cases. Recommends modifications to existing or new legal work in line with developments in legislation or business demands. Liaises closely with departments and external parties to ensure completion and delivery of agreed upon work in accordance with Company requirements. Reviews progress of lower level lawyers and recommends development as appropriate.

· Apply Legal Affairs policy and procedures in providing professional legal guidance and support to colleagues and internal customers.

· Respond to more complex requests for advice both in verbal and written form

· Interpret complex legal issues and offer advice in such a way as to offer a solution or solutions to the particular problems or issues

· Interpret and advise on new laws and regulations

· Liaise with relevant internal departments to identify issues where legal advice is required

· Work with relevant internal departments to raise awareness of the need to ask for and receive legal advice Perform advanced legal studies in assigned area of specialization.

· Progress complex cases through the courts

· Draft, negotiate and complete complex contracts necessary for the Company’s operations or administration.

· Provide mentoring and coaching to lower level lawyers in the family, evaluate their performance and recommend further development as appropriate.

· Supervise work in area of specialization to ensure compliance with technical standards and expenditure controls.

· Coordinate the work under his area with other areas of responsibility ensuring maximum efficiency and harmony with the overall work strategy.

· Evaluate and assess qualifications of external legal firms/ consultants as to their suitability for the Company’s work.

· Provide input into wider legal policy in the particular specialist area.

· Lead teams and if the position dictates it sections of advisors and researchers and monitor effectiveness of work produced through distributing tasks and organising the work

· Provide expert guidance and leadership within area of specialism to act a point of reference for other members within the department

· Recommend training and development of lower level lawyers to ensure continuity of technical development and succession in the function.

· Keep abreast of changes in the law in the area of specialization

Work with other staff to improve own operational capability and knowledge.
