Job Description
KEY RESULT AREAS:
Develops and implements safety program to prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions, utilize knowledge of industrial processes, mechanics, chemistry, psychology, and industrial health and safety laws:
Examine plans and specifications for new machinery or equipment to determine if all safety precautions have been included. Determine amount of weight that can be safely placed on plant floor.
Conduct safety audit to inspect fire and safety equipment, machinery, and facilities to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Determine requirements for safety clothing and devices, and designs, builds, and installs, or directs installation of safety devices on machinery.
Participate and assist with periodic housekeeping audits as required and attend weekly housekeeping meetings.
Conduct or coordinate safety and first aid training to educate workers about safety policies, laws, and practices.
Investigate industrial accidents to minimize recurrence and prepares accident reports.
Conduct air quality tests for presence of harmful gases and vapours.
Perform as liaison for corporate safety, NJCHS, government authorities, and plant management.
Respond to inspections by external regulatory agencies such as OSHA, State or City fire Marshals and Corporate Insurance.
Work with employees & management on a daily basis to resolve safety concerns.
Prepare and facilitate weekly safety meeting;
Serve as a resource for engineering and maintenance on new equipment/process reviews.
Report for work in proper grooming and attire. To wear complete uniform at all times. During servicing/maintenance, the position is required to wear complete uniform which was issued by the company for that specific task.
Report at least 15 minutes before regular schedule.
Exert extra effort in every opportunity to ensure that the requirement of the position is met.
Implementation of the Plant Safety Program.
Attainment of the following pre-set production and maintenance parameters:
Accident Rate = must be zero
Lost time due to accident = must be zero
Property Loss Cost due to accident = must be zero
Assignment and Planning of Work:
Lead and participates in Safety HSE audits related to the facilities engineering, construction and operation.
Lead / Participate in Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP), Project Health. Safety and Environmental review (PHSERs).
Advise on / Evaluate Project Health, Safety and Environmental Impact Assessments (HSEIA),
Perform Hazard Identification Exercises (HAZIDs).
Design, Review and Conduct Qualitative Risk Assessments.
Enforce the Implementation of HSE codes and Practices, accident
Prevent, fire prevention/protection technology and emergency response co-ordination with contractors,
Develop Risk Potential Matrix based on accident & Near Miss records. Facilitate training and certification (via 3rd party) of EMPD and contractor teams.
Decision Making:
Carry-out safety activity without job order in emergency situations where it will affect the quality of products and will result to loss of life and properties.
EDUCATION:
Must be graduate in technical school or equivalent
Technical Knowledge and Experience:
Minimum 2-5 years experience in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
University Degree in Occupational Health and Safety related field. Recognized Certifications are desirable.
Should have knowledge and skills on the following:
Knowledge of all safety standards in industrial setting especially in beverage industry to meet K.S.A regulatory standards.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.
Strong Interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
Demonstrate leadership skills,
Ability to write technical reports and procedures and posses technical presentation skills.
Basic oral English and Arabic communication skills.
Basic skills on gas and electric arc welding, pipe fittings, troubleshooting of basic electrical problems, basic masonry and carpentry
