FP | Project Coordinator & KAHRAMAA EDC Senior Civil Engineer

The role holder is responsible for supervising all activities related to civil construction and civil maintenance of the electricity distbution network in accordance with the agreed design plan and ensure adherence, established schedules, Construction Manual and applicable Standards & Specifications.

Core Responsibilities:

Prepares site plan and substation layout details for the substations (Indoor, Outdoor & Package type)
Supervises the construction of the new substations and maintenance of the existing substations and report to Project Coordinator / KAHRAMAA Civil Engineers.
Finds and propose a suitable solution for adding new equipment in the existing substations and supervises.
Discusses and finds the suitable design for the substations to be built by consumers and approves the building permit application
Supervises the construction of the substations to be built by consumers  Supervises the maintenance of the substations to be done by consumers  Review, inspect and approve contractor’s material submittals.
Performs other related duties as needed upon request by the supervisor
Develops accurate reports (weekly, monthly, etc.) and submits them to Project Coordinator for analysis of construction activities on pre-defined parameters
Key

Responsibilities:  Verifying of BOQ (completed quantities) submitted by Contractors

Material reconciliation on site (new and old/dismantled) – verify & report
Works in cooperation with KAHRAMAA Quality Assurance and Continual Improvement department on securing and maintaining the quality of works on site.
Carries out and ensures that all activities under his responsibility, within the Construction Section, are in line with KAHRAMAA health and safety regulations.
Ensure and assist Contractors in provision of all documents necessary for commencement and execution of the site works (building permits, demarcation, LOA provision, gate passes, etc…)

Monitoring Contractor’s Daily, Weekly and Monthly Progress Reports.
Participate in Daily, Weekly and monthly progress meetings with the Contractors.
Ensure optimal utilization of personnel and security of materials and equipment

People Management Responsibilites:

Defines and agree performance goals (KRA) at the start of the year in discussion with the Project Coordinator and ensures that the goals are achieved during the course of the year
Identifies the training and development requirements for self and agrees on them with the Project Coordinator to ensure that the required trainings are arranged and attended
Keeps abreast of professional developments, new techniques and current issues through continued education and professio

2. Qualifications:

a. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from recognized University.

b. Education qualification shall be obtained from North America, West Europe, Australia or equivalent University.

c. Member of Recognized Body e.g. Chartered Engineer, Professional Engineer or

Equivalent Certification in Project Management.

3. Experience:

a. Minimum 8 years of previous experience after obtaining degree from North America, West Europe, Australia or equivalent University.

b. Broad experience in construction sector with demonstrated experience in Operations and Maintenance plans and schedules for drainage construction projects & maintenance schedules for waste water networks.

c. Experience in projects involving Government Departments and Outsourced contractors / Consultants.

d. Has undertaken similar task as per above item 1 and able to demonstrate technical competencies and skills as per below item 4 and 5.

4. Technical Competencies:

a. Familiar with Planning / Project control software e.g. Primavera or Microsoft Project Control or Microsoft Visio etc.

b. Familiar with corporate management plans.

c. Project Management Method / Practice or equivalent.

5. Skills:

a. Preferably able to speak and write in Arabic. b. Ability to manage and organize projects.

c. Ability to work on own initiative.

d. Ability to understand information from a number of different perspectives to ensure both the operational and customer perspectives are taken into consideration when assessing H&S;Risks and recommending / implementing solutions.

e. Ability to escalate issues with evidence to management to resolve in acceptable timescales.

f. Relationship skills to build common under-standing and ensure delivery of robust and appropriate solutions.

g. Time Management.
