Contribute to the school individually and through the English department-sponsored events
Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials congruent with course standards; provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students
Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified administrative regulations and procedures of DeBakey High School
Evaluates academic and social growth of students, prepares report cards, and keeps accurate attendance and grade records
Provides for safe storage and proper use of materials, equipment and tools
Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior for a productive learning environment during class sessions, and field trips
Evaluates each student’s growth in knowledge and skills in the course being taught
Communicates with parents, team leaders, and school counselors on student progress
Supervises students in assigned out of classroom activities during the working day
Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities
Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities
Analyze performance data in order to provide targeted instructions based on students’ individual needs and measure it against the school learning outcomes
Present content according to the guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations
Work with other faculty members to determine instructional goals, objectives and strategies
Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process
Plan and monitor work flow of instructional assistants and volunteers as appropriate
Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing, provide feedback to students and parents, and reflect on teaching
Support mission and vision of Debakey School by serving as a positive role model for students
Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students
Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly to students, parents, and staff
Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community
Participate in staff development activities that improve job-related skills and professional growth
Compile, maintain and file all reports, records and other required documents
Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required
Demonstrate knowledge of content and pedagogy
Create an environment of respect and rapport
Provide feedback to students
Coordinate and supervise field trips with the help of team leaders
Attend and assist when necessary with school events such as musical programs, athletics, and students’ recognition ceremonies, graduation and open house
Ensure that school’s policies are observed during all activities
Follow and implement school’s policies and procedures
Adhere to all School’s health and safety policies
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or other administrative staff, which is consistent with the general requirements and qualifications of the position
