Your commitment Reporting to the Department Chair, Paramedicine, Environmental & Occupational Health & Safety, the instructor will plan, develop, and deliver instruction to students enrolled in either the Emergency Medicine (Paramedicine) program, or Contract Training offerings in CPR, ACLS, BLS, First Aid, PALS etc. The instructor may be required to deliver additional courses in other Health Science programs at the discretion/direction of the dean/chair dependant on need and workload demands. S/he will evaluate student progress and manage the resources of the learning environment. The instructor will liaise with industry and other educational institutions; participate in industry advisory committees and coordinate, manage and control projects within the specified program area. Instructors will keep course portfolio documents required for accreditation processes and engage in instructional development/improvement plans. All employees are expected to contribute to professional and community life within the College and beyond. Depending on course delivery needs, this could be a clinical or classroom position. Employees may be required to work differing hours and/or through summer months.

A relevant Master’s or higher degree in a related health field, education or administration with an Advanced Care Medicine (ACP) Diploma from an accredited school and current licensure with a recognized Paramedicine registry/body. A thorough knowledge of Emergency Medicine (Paramedicine) and a minimum of five years recent relevant experience is required. Experience teaching at a post-secondary level and expertise in curriculum development is desirable. Knowledge and understanding of a variety of delivery and student success strategies is required. Candidates must also have knowledge of current teaching and learning methodologies and an ability to meet the needs of a diverse student population. Strong computer skills and knowledge of the appropriate use and integration of technology in the teaching and learning process are also required. Candidates must demonstrate exemplary communication and interpersonal skills and expert fluency in English. Effective problem solving skills, an ability to work in a team and learner centered environment, and the ability to develop effective working relationships across all levels of the organization are also required. Intercultural competence including intercultural sensitivity and adaptability, and the ability to conduct oneself appropriately and effectively in another culture, are essential. Knowledge of the CNA system and its programs is a definite asset. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
