Management of Network Hardware and Software
§ Administer the engineering, installation, operation, and maintenance of core IP infrastructure and network in accord with established procedures to facilitate effective operations and smooth network availability.
§ Administer core switching and remote connectivity (VPN) setup and related infrastructure as well as connecting all sites and all data flows through them.
§ Administer the voice networks (VOIP and digital solutions) in all QIG sites and provide the required support to the users.
§ Design, implement and execute the set plans for networks and cabling as per QIG business requirements.
§ Identify and assess user requirements so as to design/develop and effectively deploy network solutions in order to improve business processes in the organization.
§ Deploy, configure, maintain and monitor the network hardware e.g., active network, switches, routers, firewall and remote access and configuration.
§ Design and monitor the working of various aspects of the network connectivity (switches, cables, servers) so as to ensure proper connectivity and optimize the network bandwidth.
§ Ensure that comprehensive monitoring of all mission critical network infrastructure components, , is done according to prescribed frequencies.
§ Ensure that built-in failover capabilities are implemented in the network monitoring system to achieve non-stop monitoring of critical network infrastructure components.
§ Ensure that incident and problem case logs and their association with network infrastructure components are reviewed diligently to ensure that appropriate actions are taken at all times.
§ Ensure that all available data from the network monitoring tools is used to determine where bandwidth capacity adjustment needs to be made to proactively support business needs.
§ Handle network administration e.g. network address assignment, assignment of routing protocols and routing table configuration as well as configuration of authentication and authorization –Keep abreast with latest tools and utilities to measure network performance.
§ Manage and monitor wireless network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
ICT Security
§ Implement security devices and applications to monitor and review network, servers, mail traffic, and applications to ensure adherence to central information security guidelines and policies.
§ Contribute to the implementation of an effective and robust control, backup, virus defence, intrusion prevention, SIEM solutions, and security systems to safeguard and protect all network operations and ensure the reliability and integrity of data.
§ Run different types of utilities to ensure network security from viruses and hackers in accord with established policies and procedures.
§ Provide relevant input and advices in the development and implementation of Information Security policies & procedures to ensure their alignment with departmental needs and goals.
§ Evaluate vulnerabilities and potential risks and threats during the real time security monitoring to ensure that appropriate actions are taken.
§ Manage and implement web filtering solutions.
§ Coordinate all Internal and External IT audits
Research
§ Conduct continuous research studies and documentation to stay aware of the latest changes in technologies in order to update QIG network accordingly when the need arises.
§ Research and recommend equipment and software solutions for stated needs.
ICT Vendor Selection and Management
§ Prepare and recommend the required network related purchase orders for timely replenishment as well as equipment and software solutions for stated needs.
§ Recommend the appropriate vendors and work closely with selected parties in order to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness in the detailed design and installation of the network.
§ Monitor the technical support provided by vendors and maintain relations with them ensuring that they are providing QIG with an efficient and effective service.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
§ Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
§ Provide relevant input and advices in the development and implementation of IT policies and procedures to ensure their alignment with departmental needs and goals.
Statements and Reports
§ Assist in the preparation of timely and accurate departmental statements and reports to meet and department requirements, policies and standards.
Quality, Health, Safety, & Environment
§ Ensure all relevant quality, health, safety and environmental procedures, instructions and controls are adhered to so that the safety of employees, quality of products/services and environmental compliance can be guaranteed.
