UDC’s hospitality division is looking for an Assistant Food and Beverage Buyer with F&B;industry experience!
Role Objective:
Assist the senior buyer in developing, leading and executing purchasing strategies across the Hospitality Development Company while keeping a constant alignment with the United Development Company Procurement policies to achieve cost savings for all goods and services and running and efficient supply chain.
Key Accountabilities:
Assist to secure products and services at the best possible pricing without compromising on quality or service
Consolidate purchases to achieve maximum economic benefit
Forge close relationships with Head of Departments, Management and Directors across the restaurants and support office.
Liaise with the senior buyer, suppliers and restaurants to ensure their needs are being met
Assist to build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers
Assist in for liaising with the “buyers” and communicating with suppliers to ensure contractual requirements are maintained.
Assist in maintaining relationships with HDC suppliers and report on their performance Produce reports and statistics on spending and saving, and top 20 ingredients history tracker
Coordinate with the operations the demand however be the custodian of the quantities ordered preventing wastage and shortage
Consolidate as much as possible the ingredients and categories
Liaise with the Senior buyer to ensure the company’s purchasing systems are up to date with products and pricing to facilitate its smooth operation at restaurant level
Assist to source the best products at best value
Accountability
Support the senior buyer in developing and implementing strategies for purchasing areas aligned with the HDC food and beverage objectives in line with UDC OPs.
Support the dining experience by maintaining supplies for food and beverage service.
Ensure that the items needed meet all culinary requirements of HDC as well as progress any quality and control objectives that are established.
Assist in comparing proposals from multiple vendors offering the same product to improve quality
Confirm product meets the specifications provided by the Food and Beverage HDC operations teams.
Assist in minimizing shortages and disruptions.
Assist in creating preventive measures .
Assist in preparation of the month end accounts reports in an accurate and timely manner
Assist in establishing a strategy to improve the metrics of product quality and cost effectiveness while maintaining supply during a rapid growth phase.
Support the migration of our current producer base to implement better sustainability practices as quality and cost feasible.
Support any food safety risk assessments, vendor standards, or recalls.
Assist in monitoring inbound logistics to the first receiver to optimize inventory and supply.
Manage the database of active local contracts with suppliers
Adhere to quality procedures and standards of HDC and oversee purchasing administration such that all HDC policies and standards are upheld
Maintain comprehensive backup for locating and reconciling purchase orders
Execute on tasks/requests as instructed by HDC Management
Assist to manage remote central storage

Educational Qualifications
Minimum of a Diploma in procurement or a related field
Experience
3 to 5 years relevant experience as a purchaser/procurement within hospitality or related industry.
Technical Competencies
Strong financial knowledge and ability to work with budgets
Accountable and resilient
Ability to negotiate with suppliers to get the best prices and products
Ability to effectively communicate in with, management and operations team to understand their needs
Ability to taste and evaluate food and beverage products
Ability to be flexible with schedule and able to work different shifts
Certification of previous training in food service.
Computer literate, with good MS Excel skills
Behavioral Competencies:
Ability to maintain HDC’s standards, policies and procedures with all outlet personnel.
