Job Overview:
Under indirect supervision, assesses nutrition status of normal to high-risk clients and develops appropriate nutrition care regimens considering client’s cultural, social, and economic status. Provides nutrition counselling and education to clients regarding diet and food plans, develops and conducts in-services and nutrition outreach programs. Administers and advises food service operations to ensure menus comply with prescribed nutritional plans.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conducts client’s nutrition assessments to determine risk and nutrition requirements.
Develops nutrition programs for patients and makes recommendations for treatment as required; documents assessment and nutrition plans.
Monitors implementation of nutrition plans and follows up in order to assess client progress and adjust plans as necessary.
Prepares and posts menus including portion sizes and recipes for staff to follow;
Determines the quantities of food to be prepared daily by the use of standardized test recipes;
Instructs and supervises employees in the use of recipes, accepted food preparation methods, use and care of equipment, safety practices and established sanitation methods.
Educates and counsels clients on nutrition issues and conduct outreach programs.
May assist in development and preparation of grant proposals; may participate in funded research programs.
May certify patients for specific program benefits as required.
Assesses and evaluates nutritional needs of clients;
Certifies and recertifies the nutritional medical status and program service eligibility of clients, families, and groups.
Provides nutritional counseling to clients.
Plans and conducts nutritional training to meet client needs.
Prepares monthly reports on nutrition program activities and issues.
Performs related work as required.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Any other tasks required by Direct Manager.
المهارات
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 5 to 6 years’ experience in a similar field.
Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or an equivalent field.
Must be registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)
Having courses in food & nutrition science
Ability to interact well with clients from a wide range of backgrounds
Ability to analyze and assess client nutrition deficiencies and requirements.
Ability to evaluate the progress of nutrition programs and to make individual modifications.
Ability to plan and coordinate nutrition programs for clients.
Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
Good decision making and judgment capabilities
The ability to instruct others
The ability to identify and solve complex problems
Being socially perceptive; that is, aware of the reactions of others and understanding those reactions
Good reading comprehension skills
Good coordination skills and the ability to adjust one’s actions in relation to others’ actions

Physical Requirements:
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
