Overview of Industrial Automation
The Digital Technology Industrial Automation Engineer is responsible for developing the detailed technical configurations required to ensure that the many and varied plant floor computing platforms operate in a reliable manner and integrate seamlessly with each other and with the enterprise computing environment. The position provides information systems support and ensures continued operation of the systems, processes, and technologies that comprise Air Products’ Industrial Control Systems. The candidate will need strong information systems and infrastructure-related skills including network, client, server, and security.
Plant floor computing requires a broad variety of operating systems, software applications and communication protocol alternatives. These systems must communicate with various electronic devices and together they form the core of plant automation. The blend of operational technology and information systems components present technical challenges that must be considered in the design.
There is a large stakeholder community which includes Global Engineering & Manufacturing, Operations, Digital Technology, and others. It is necessary to ensure that all technical solutions align with the strategic and tactical directions for the stakeholder groups and that all activities are coordinated across the various organizations to ensure the desired end-state.
What you’ll do:
Work with Process Automation Engineers for control system integration or upgrade projects for new and/or existing plants; this includes configuration (building) and installation (deploying) of PCs and Servers for Industrial Control Systems.
Configure, install, and uninstall PCs and Servers for Process Control Applications and associated Plant Computing third party software.
Provide information and operational support for industrial control systems at Air Products Plants, Operating Service Centers (OSCs), Pipeline systems, and trailer fill systems.
Provide first level incident response for control system network (terminal bus) and Process Control PCs and Servers.
Participate in on-call support rotation, including evenings and weekends per rotation schedule.
Configure, Deploy and Support Plant Floor/OT applications for malware, antivirus, disaster recovery, safelisting, asset management, remote access, intrusion detection and various other layers of protection for OT assets.
Coordinate cross-functional resources for new construction, closure, movement, expansion, and consolidation activities.
Provide network/security hardware upgrades and installations for Maintain Viability work where Network/Security Technical Support would not be performing this role.
Maintain the compliance with cybersecurity, safety, and Digital Technology standards for staging center/lab.
Develop and/or maintain Zone & Conduit Diagrams for Process Control Systems.
Work with vendors and follow industry best practices for proper infrastructure support.
Infrastructure Lifecycle planning, including health assessments and roadmaps.
Participate in Industrial Control System cybersecurity assessments and deployments.
Optimize work processes and implement automation to drive service efficiency and productivity.
Work with regional team members and help train, orient, bring up to speed new team members.
Travel to Air Products plant sites, spend minimum of 25% of your time travelling.

What we’re looking for:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or an Engineering discipline (Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical), or equivalent qualification with demonstrated relevant technical experience.
10+ years information systems experience or comparable experience with process control systems
Experience with Windows PC Operating Systems (Windows 7, Windows 10) and Windows Server Operating Systems (Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2016)
Broad knowledge of infrastructure tools and services; TCP/IP network protocols, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, Active Directory, Servers, Printing, Security, and Voice.
Experience with endpoint malware protection, disaster recovery solutions, remote access tools and application safelisting. Experience with these specific vendors a plus: Symantec Endpoint Protection, Acronis Backup, NetOp Remote Control, and McAfee Application safelisting.
ISA99/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Fundamentals Specialist Certificate a plus; Knowledge of KSA Cyber requirements.
Willingness to learn and develop security administration skillset
Familiarity with industrial control systems
Ability to manage multiple project priorities and competing demands
Good communication, leadership and teamwork skills are required, including the ability to work independently
Must be a creative thinker, results oriented, focused, and attentive to detail and accuracy
Must be sharp, quick, dedicated, and innovative problem solver
Must be able to safely handle physical demands of the position, including ability to lift up to 13 kilos, install equipment in tight spaces, and pull wire, cables, and run conduits as needs arise.
