The Packaging Engineer designs, tests, and implements packaging designs that are an integral part of the organization’s Product Development process. They also review and improve existing packaging designs.
Supervise a team of Packaging Supervisors and Machine Operators in the packaging/bagging area.
Ensure proper maintenance of the packaging/bagging machines and perform troubleshooting when required.
Oversee and manage complete packaging development process, including the creation of packaging designs, prototype development, and performance testing.
Analyze engineering drawings and specifications of product to determine physical characteristics of item, special handling, environmental and safety requirements, and types of materials required for packaging.
Specify and recommend efficiency tools and test methods to develop and validate packaging designs.
Work with the manufacturing department to insure that the packaging designs are optimized for manufacturability.
Review all new technology and prepare design to increase efficiency and ensure effective transition of all designs into design process.
Identify and implement cost saving initiatives related to packaging materials, labor, efficiency, transportation, and storage.
Troubleshoot new and existing packaging problems involving designs, materials and processes and provide creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions.
Maintain good housekeeping, cleanliness and orderliness within the area of responsibility as per company standards.

Qualifications and Experrience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum of 6 -8 years experience as Packaging Engineer in manufacturing / industrial or packaging industries
