Job Description and Requirements Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities: • Analyze and interpret civil, mechanical, electrical and Ica, design documentation and prepare outline and detailed technical specifications to be used as part of contract documents for building construction contracts. • Research, develop, maintain and continuously update a materials library for ready reference with physical catalogues, brochures, samples etc. as well as a digital links, contacts, technical data etc. •Develop and maintain standard specification templates to be used for water infrastructure projects following international best practices and systems • Remain in regular contact with vendors, suppliers and manufacturers to keep the materials library and specification templates up-to-date. • Write technical descriptions specifying material qualities and properties, utilizing knowledge of material standards, construction processes or manufacturing procedures. • Conduct quality reviews of design documents while researching and preparing specifications. • Prepare project manuals with an in-depth familiarity with the various contract types and general and special conditions. • Coordinate progress of specification development with all disciplines and ensure the specification documents are completed in time for each stage submission. • Stay current on product development, new materials, code changes and industry trends . • Work on multiple projects running concurrently and manage own time and resources to ensure timely delivery and quality of specifications. • Respond to client, contractor and/or consultants’ technical queries regarding specifications. Title: Specification Writer (6 months) Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in engineering equivalent • Minimum 10 years of experience writing technical specifications for water projects • Knowledge of GCC local regulatory requirements – preferably those for Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Riyadh and Jeddah. • Superior written and verbal English communication skills • Computer skills with an emphasis on MS Office suite and Adobe Acrobat, FTP programs and SharePoint. • Previous experience in building design consultancy/contracting firms, architecture‐engineering firms, construction management or specification consulting firms. • Excellent interpersonal skills, working with others in a team setting, communicating with Client team and Contractor contact and working on multiple projects at the same time.
