IT Project Manager

Reports to: IT Director
Unit/ Department: Global IT
Job Purpose:

Responsible for taking ownership of projects from requirements gathering through to delivery and actively drives projects through their lifecycle using a project management and software development methodology. Ensures the delivery of projects on time and budget whilst ensuring standards and best practices are followed. Will bridge the gap between our internal customers and the rest of our IT team by understanding business challenges, system architecture and technology strategy. Works alongside the IT Director in engaging different company departments to establish and document their information requirements.
Key Accountabilities:
Establish Business IT Requirements

Engage with different company corporate and local unit departments to establish and document their IT requirements.

Assess and prioritise requirements before suggesting project priorities to the IT Director.

Project Management, Reporting and Delivery
Lead, manage and communicate project development over a project’s lifecycle using an established project management and software development methodology to ensure the delivery of projects on time and on budget.

Document and publish project charters and all other relevant project documentation including requirements definitions, functional specifications, meeting minutes etc.

Build, manage and maintain the department’s project management shared workspace.

Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely, regular and clear fashion.

Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential risks and devise contingency plans.

Build, develop, and nurture business relationships vital to the success of projects.

Training and Development
Maintain knowledge of all relevant aspects of IT and expand areas of required speciality knowledge - PMP, Agile, Prince2, ITIL etc.

Increase professional knowledge and awareness by reading and participating in technical events outside of immediate employment.

Team Leadership and Management
Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise team members and ensure the quality of their work.

Conduct annual objective planning sessions and performance appraisals with all subordinates.

Develop an annual training plan for all subordinates.

Span of Communication
Internal: IT Director, Business Executives, all Departments and IT Users

External: Suppliers, Partners

Qualification, Skills and Experience:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field

A Project Management qualification e.g. PRINCE2, PMP, Agile etc.

ITIL v3 Foundation

Preferred Qualifications:
ITIL Service Transition

Programme management certification

Software development certification

Preferred Experience:
5 years in software development

5 years in IT project management
