Operating as a member of the Dubai Branch Risk and Compliance team, supporting in the compliance activities with emphasis on regulatory compliance, Financial Crime (AML/CFT, Sanctions) Conduct Risk, and monitoring.
Appointed Discipline Officer with the UAE Insurance Authority responsible for Compliance and AML/CFT.
Advise the business on developing appropriate control processes that deliver to local (and IOM) regulatory requirements and Co. regulatory and financial crime standards.
Work with the branch’s Financial Crime Manager in managing daily cases reviews, provide feedback to 1st line of defence and ensure controls on financial crime regulatory requirements are effectively embedded in the branch’s procedures.
Communicate with internal stakeholders, and provide advice and expertise to ensure that the necessary compliance procedures, documentation and policies are comprehensive, up to date and communicated to all stakeholders.
Promote a culture of compliance within product, sales and service operations areas throughout the branch by development of regular contact with internal departments.
Support the IOM Compliance team in delivering monitoring activities and risk assessments to assess compliance, conduct, regulatory, financial crime and regulatory and operational risks to ensure Co, achieves its business objectives.

Perform AML risk assessments as and when needed.
Submit STRs to the FCU and the IA.
Ensure completeness of all internal records and logs.
Identify areas of improvement where AML / CFT procedures can be imbedded in the day-to-day business activities and lead change where 1st line takes full ownership.
Review of AML/CFT Policy, Business Risk Assessment, Handbook and other relevant documents on annual and/or ad-hoc basis, providing feedback as and when appropriate to eliminate risks, improve controls or simplify procedures.
Attend to the Insurance Authority’s queries and requests in relation to AML/CFT.
Regulatory Compliance
Full participation in reviewing and analysing upcoming and new regulations, performing gap analysis between current laws/regulations and new/proposed.
Managing and updating the rules database with new laws/regulations with full identification of owners. Assist owners with documenting procedures and controls in place, and identifying any gaps. Support rule owners in mitigating gaps.
Managing the record keeping of all communication with the regulators.
Managing and / updating regulatory change and reporting logs as and when applicable.
Coordinating with FPIL Complaints team (IOM and/or UAE) in line with FPIL Complaints Framework to manage customers’ complaints lodged through the IA, providing regular updates to the IA as and when needed.
Support the branch with the quarterly, annual and ad-hoc regulatory submissions.
Coordinate with relevant stakeholders in relation to general IA initiatives, queries or requests and support with deliverables.
Managing IA annual or ad-hoc Portal submissions such as licence renewal, appointment of approved personnel, product submissions… etc.
Monitoring Activities
Support the IOM team with annual monitoring reviews, providing risk owners and other stakeholders clear conclusions derived from appropriate evidence.
Support in the development and agreement of appropriate actions to remedy any issues identified by the monitoring reviews.
Support the management of issues to help risk owners bring about remedial action within the agreed timescales.
Support in coordination and production of monitoring data for relevant forums, committees and stakeholders.
