The System Administrator, systems responsible for maintaining and supporting Unix Servers which host highly critical applications like Oracle ERP, Customer Website and Leisure Applications.
The IT System Administrator reports to Assistant Manager, System Administration.
The IT System Administrator has no direct report.
The IT System Administrator will work closely internally with all end users regarding profile updates and business project managers as well as externally with vendors.
2. PrIncipal accountabilities
System Administration
· Supports high critical hosting Unix based servers in primary and disaster recovery sites.
· Backs up design production/disaster recovery corporate servers.
· Participates in design and reviews of new systems and applications.
· Performs file system configuration and management.
· Troubleshoots and resolves hardware and software problems.
· Monitors and tests system performance and provides performance statistics and reports.
Systems Support
· Designs, installs, configures, administers, tunes and optimizes Unix systems servers and related components to achieve high availability and performance of the various business applications supported.
· Coordinates with business application, and database administration function to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of systems to meet business demands.
· Defines and implements strategies for integrating systems operating environments.
· Recommends and executes modifications to systems in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
· Establishes and implements policies, procedures, and technologies (including firewalls) to ensure system security.
· Conducts research on systems related hardware and software in support of procurement and system development efforts.
· Reviews and implements new system releases and vendor supplied patches.
· Develops and maintains systems training materials and systems documentation.
Backup
· Configures and Manages backup solutions.
· Supports, manages and administers enterprise backup solution, NetBackup.
· Defines and performs system backups and recovery procedures.
· Administers the Storage Systems (SAN) and Tapes Backup Solution.
Administration
· Participates in Project Management activities.
· Conducts technical evaluation of proposals.
· Manages and/or provides guidance to junior members of the team.
· Completes assigned tasks within given deadlines.
· Ensures high level customer service.
