Coordinate the arrival of containers with shipping lines, terminals, port and receiving warehouses.
Coordinate and manage the process of moving containers from the terminal to warehouses ensuring that the correct container is sent to the correct warehouse.
• Ensure that tasks are carried out being cost conscious.
• Contribute to cost saving targets by reducing waste.
• Identify opportunities to reduce expenditure and operating costs.
• Build and maintain relationships with all parties involved with the delivery of containers to the warehouse.
• Understand internal customer requirements.
• Advise all shipping lines and the terminals, about the arrival of containers.
• Coordinate with the terminal, advise them in advance of the destination of each container
• Supervise the entire process to ensure that it is performed smoothly.
• Allocate tasks and guide the Port Assistant regarding the movement of containers
• Address any issues at the port that may delay the release or transportation of containers to warehouses.
• Ensure there are sufficient trucks to transport containers to warehouses and if necessary arrange private trucks.
• Ensure that the containers are directed to the correct warehouse
• Maintain contact with warehouse coordinators to allow them to prepare for receiving of containers.
• Ensure containers are returned empty to the port with all relevant documentation
• Report on movement of the containers
• Update system with information regarding the content containers delivered to warehouses (24 warehouses).
• Ensure all necessary documentation is completed for every stage of the process.
• Follow all departmental policies, processes and standard operating procedures
• Oversee and supervise the freelance team assisting with the process of moving the containers.
• Share information and knowledge that will benefit the team.
• Take responsibility for self-development.
