The head of the animal health division will be expected to provide and carry out several tasks related to the preventive, diagnosis, treatment and other supportive veterinary care for several species of livestock, wildlife and birds located at various sites belongs to the groups of Mawarid Holdings for the purposes of conservation and breeding.
The candidate will also be expected to have professional expertise in managing and providing advices for several junior veterinarians and other staff in the department, and in handling budgets and writing reports and proposals. The position involves work closely and in collaboration with other related divisions and departments.
Specific Objective of the Position:
To maintain the overall health condition of our wildlife & livestock populations located at various sites.
To manage and run a comprehensive veterinary hospital.
To manage and supervise animal quarantine facility.
To monitor and provide advises for our veterinarians managing various animal collections and farms.
To suggest suitable solutions at times of emergencies.
To prepare reports, write plans and proposals related to animal health’s activities.
To implement the required procedures & protocols for the overall protection of animals against diseases.
To participate in the processes related to the commercialization of the hospital.
Duties & Responsibilities:
To undergo various treatment and surgery procedures for wildlife & livestock species.
To plan, supervise & implement the various processes and daily activities related to the overall animal health.
To interpret the laboratory results and issue prescriptions accordingly.
To issue health certificates upon the requirement.
To develop and implement preventive programs aiming at minimizing the transmission of infections between animals.
To supervise the implementation of the vaccination programs.
To collect biological samples(blood, feces, swabs, etc.) from animals for Laboratory analysis.
To perform post-mortem for dead animals and send samples to the lab.
To manage and supervise the activities related to the quarantine.
To carry out tranquilizing and euthanization procedures.
To establish protocols and SOPs.
To write down budgets related to the activities of the department.
To manage and provide advices to several veterinary health’s staff.
To assist during capturing and translocation of animals.
To submit a monthly and periodical reports.
To locate suitable solutions at times of emergencies.
المهارات
Skills/Technical Abilities:
Knowledge of diagnosis & treatment of sick and injured animals.
Experience in undergoing surgical operations at various levels.
Experience in performing post-mortem examination.
Experience in responding, investigating and controlling of disease outbreak cases.
Experience in animal darting & capturing.
Solid leadership and management skills.
Knowledge of biosecurity, vaccination program for various species and breeds.
Experience in applying the latest treatment and therapy programs.
Capable of writing down comprehensive professional reports, plans and proposals.
Communicate well with a variety of levels of staff and outside parties.
Ability to provide training and continuous education to our staff.
Written & spoken proficiency in English.
Enjoys working with similarly dedicated persons in a team fashion.
Good working knowledge of MS Office, and internet.
Qualifications:
Master degree in Veterinary medicine.
Minimum of 5- years working experience in the field of wildlife & livestock breeding & health management.
Sound experience in the management of comprehensive veterinary hospital.
A record of management of group of veterinary health’s staff.
