Job Description The Fine Arts Minor of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at the United Arab Emirates University, in Al Ain, UAE invites applications for an instructor/lecturer in Studio Art, Visual Studies. The purpose of this appointment is to bring to the university a mid-career scholar with a substantial record of academic and professional activity. The area of specialization required is modern and contemporary Visual Culture, Art and Society, Methods and Practices of Curating, with an ability to teach all or some foundation courses such as photography, drawing, painting and sculpture. The position is available as a full time contract appointment. Applicants must demonstrate evidence of scholarly research and curatorial practice. Courses taught by the instructor/lecturer, include but are not limited to: all or some foundation courses such as photography, drawing, painting and sculpture, Art & Society, Art & Islamic Society, Art Criticism, Intro to Visual Studies. Opportunities to collaborate with and curate exhibitions at UAEU or at local venues are available, and a teaching course might take the form of producing a local exhibition with the assistance of students. The course load is 5 courses (15 credits) per semester in addition to organizing on campus, along with students, the Visual Arts Annual Student Exhibition. The language of instruction is English.
