Specific Objective of the Position:
To ensure that plans, strategies and protocols provided by Manager are implemented in the field and are executed as per SOPs.
To manage and coordinate the field operations of a globally important collection of desert fauna at Sir Bani Yas Island.
To assist to promote ecotourism and give innovative plans for improving the tourists’ experience along with supreme objective of animals’ welfare and wildlife conservation.
To assist the Manager in meetings, presentation, seminars, field tours, and to represent the department in absence of Manager.
Duties & Responsibilities:
To manage a globally important collections of diverse fauna including IUCN listed threatened species on scientific basis as per international standards.
To assist the Manager to developing standard operating procedures for every aspect of collection management.
To develop, train, and Field Staff administration.
To assist the Manager in designing and operating of the new animal exhibits, visitor experiences and educational resources and to ensure maintaining high standards throughout.
To develop and implement work plans, work schedules.
To monitor in the field the highest degree of animal care and welfare as per WAZA and EAZA standards.
To monitor animals’ health status, behavior and other conservation interventions.
To ensure safest environment for staff, animals and the visitors.
To work with other departments with solid profession aptitude, to develop supreme working environment.
To implement the policies developed by the Manager for collection management and cooperation/interaction with other institutions.
To implement breeding programs for species of interest
To properly maintain the studbooks and for record keeping.
To deliver detailed reports of all activities, operations and achievements to the manager.
To participate in a weekly meeting, present the work progress, discuss issues hindering work objectives.
To undertake any other assignment required by the Manager on urgent basis regarding project activities and operations.
To ensure all SOPs are updated and implemented.
To deal effectively with all staff issues and bring them to the manager.
To place material requisitions and their follow ups.
To manage the staff, vehicle, asset and husbandry in the field.
To plan and design survey methods, protocols and datasheets for avifauna monitoring.
To assess feasibility for planned programs.
To execute survey techniques for data collection.
To keep the record and data entry into software and for establishing a biodiversity database.
To collect trap/sample for identification or to check any other required parameter (e.g. morphometric observations).
To collaborate with international conservation organizations for welfare of migratory species.
To assist wildlife biologist in natural fauna monitoring.
To process scientific data, to formulate reports and/or scientific publications
المهارات
Skills/Technical Abilities:
Solid leadership and management skills.
Capable of writing down comprehensive professional reports, plans and proposals.
Communicate well with a variety of levels of staff and outside parties.
Ability to provide training and continuous education to our staff.
Written & spoken proficiency in English.
Enjoys working with similarly dedicated persons in a team fashion.
Knowledge of biosecurity for various species and breeds.
Good working knowledge of MS Office, and internet.
