Parsons is now hiring a Principal Mechanical Engineer for our rapidly expanding portfolio of projects.

In this role you will ensure consistency with applicable codes and customer quality requirements in an environment geared for industrial ventilation, airborne contamination control or exhaust filtration systems. You will provide cooling and heating load calculations as well as air and water distribution system pressure drop calculations. You will review vendor and subcontractor submittals as well as select HVAC equipment.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Independently develops and/or supervises the creation of Mechanical engineering designs for Mechanical systems and pressurized networks for large and mega infrastructure projects that meet customer quality requirements and international as well as Local Authority regulations and standards. This includes defining the problem, establishing the work scope, preparing the budget and schedule, planning the work, providing technical direction, and reporting the work status.
Shall be responsible for liaising with Authorities such as DM, DEWA -WD, SEWA, ADM, ADSSC, SMDD, DCD, for obtaining Detailed Design Approvals, Network Approvals, Consumption utilities demands, , Building permit approvals, DCD approvals, NOCs and all related designs preparations.
Verifying clash analysis and resolving the clashes in 3D models.
May function as discipline Project Engineer on medium to large projects, assuming responsibility for the work of the group.
May plan, direct, and supervise the work of a major engineering unit or project requiring a largescale expenditure of manpower and financial investment.
Leads other Engineers and design personnel in technical excellence and growth in the Quality Improvement Process.
Provides technical consultations for interdisciplinary analytical studies and analyses.
Ensures compliance of design with all applicable codes and regulations, providing the seal and signature of the professional engineer when required by statute or contract.
Prepares material/equipment specifications and purchase requisitions; reviews supplier data; witnesses shop tests, assists with assessing supplier manufacturing capabilities.
Develops operation and maintenance plans; develops standard operating procedures; prepares O & M manuals and may conduct onsite training of personnel.
Conducts surveys, studies, and site investigations. Performs reliability, availability, maintenance (RAM) and safety analyses.
Maintains affiliation with professional societies to keep abreast of current technologies.
Helps determine budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule. May assist with other administrative and technical duties.
Recommends and prepares technical papers.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Design of mechanical equipment for Sewerage Treatment Plants, Reverse Osmosis Plants and various Storm water, Sewage, Irrigation Pumping Stations.
Preparation of design reports, specifications, tender documents and securing design approvals for different project phases including coordination with client/authorities/sub consultants.
Review of design reports prepared by other consultants and preparation of design review reports
Preparation of technical proposals and estimation for projects, Technical Evaluation of Bids and preparation of evaluation reports.
Coordination with all local authorities of GCC Region
Carrying out Value Engineering for various technical options and preparing Value Engineering reports with recommendations.
Preparing Clarifications to Contractor RFIs, Review/approve key technical submittals related to Mechanical works and dry utilities.
Preparing master plans from Concept stage to Detailed Master Plan stage in terms of utility corridor space proofing, defining ROW requirements, coordination for wet utilities, with roads, transportation, landscape and building design teams
Develop Master plan report, derive utility demand load calculations, sizing major equipment and selective protection coordination, tie in point requirements, Full understanding of wet utilities and infrastructure projects from Concept to IFC stage

Minimum Required Experience and Expertise:
Minimum 15 years relevant experience in Mechanical design of Large Infrastructure projects with minimum 4 years in similar Principal/ Senior Mechanical Engineer position
Recent experience Mechanical designs to local and international standards
Extensive experience and proficiency in using HVAC HAP Carrier software, CFD software, BIM and Revit experience and other software to perform Advanced surge system analysis, pressure and flow studies, for networks and grids.
Experience on detailed designs of Mechanical systems for multistory buildings, special buildings such as data centers, drainage, sewerage pump stations.
Experience in mechanical systems for Rail and modern Metro systems, tunnel ventilation system
Proficient in carrying out CFD analysis for tunnels utilizing software such as CHAM (Phoenics), SES, and similar software.
Must have thorough knowledge of NFPA regulations, Fire and Life Safety codes, and various local authority standards in the GCC like Dubai Civil Defense.
Strong infrastructure engineering background with previous experience on infrastructure projects calculations, and report writing skills.
Shall be able to analyze the specific project requirements for greenfield, brownfield projects.
Extensive knowledge in design of HVAC system including selecting appropriate type of Air conditioning system, heat load calculations, pipe sizing, sizing of chillers, and all associated equipment.
Experience in using Microstation, AutoCAD, civil 3D, Navisworks environment and BIM software as well as Revit software is necessary.
