The role of the maintenance planner is to provide quality job plans including site preparation, parts requirements, support equipment requirements and resources with the appropriate task sequencing necessary to allow for the efficient scheduling and execution of maintenance work on all site wide equipment. The planner provides support and assistance to planning engineer to ensure implementation of long term plans for effective monitoring and control of maintenance activities and prepare/ follow up weekly plan for the assigned area. The main challenges for the jobholder are to establish effective co-ordination with maintenance team and enhance equipment integrity by an efficient planning support and achieving a minimum level of backlog work orders.
• Checks incoming work orders to ensure all required fields are filled completely and correctly- e.g. WR short text, long text, priority, GL codes, WO authorization and discuss the details with originator and incorporates all relevant info and missing attachments etc. Checks incoming WO for duplication of WOs, functional location, equipment and other master data and makes corrections where required. Also checks the priority of the work order and suggests the priorities to be changed from urgent to normal after analyzing the work. Thus helping in reducing the maintenance cost by reducing unnecessary urgent jobs.
• Collate relevant documents, visit job sites to understand the WO execution objective, methods and requirements to arrive at the safest, most effective and economic execution solutions and to prepare the best work-plan package, in consultation with all stake holders.
• Coordinate to review, challenge, and determine priority of WR for acceptance.
• Research earlier planned job packages for repetitive use for similar WO in exact detail or with adaptations so to optimize planning time.
• Checks if the specific WO is under active PMR, EWR or Scheme scope.
• Analyse the work order in detail; develop work breakdown structure for a specific job in terms of all involved tasks, their dependencies, sequence and method of executing each task
• Identify and estimate all the required resources for execution including crafts, crew size, man-hours, and reserve stocked spare parts, special tools, equipment etc., in consultation with Maintenance Supervisor and provide a reasonable total cost estimate.
• Determine availability of materials from CMMS and validate inventory.
• Enter Target Start / Finish Date for WO in Maximo fields in consultation with Maintenance Supervisors.
• Facilitate material requests, consider delivery lead time and issue purchase requisitions thru Maint. Supervisor
• Reserve and or coordinate material, services, special tools/PPEs, coordinate methods/ procedures/ HSE & PTW requirements, DMPR/VAP and follow up all.
• Develop & prepare Micro schedule to level 4 detail utilizing planning software like MS Project, Primavera etc.
• Follows up with Maintenance Supervisor preparation of appropriate method statement, special procedures etc. necessary for safe and appropriate technical execution.
• Consult, ensure and follow up with RD of WO to reserve and/or order all required services, materials, tools, vendor services etc. All stock items shall be reserved by PLE whereas all non-stock materials and special tools, services and manpower etc. will be requested/raised by Maintenance Supervisor.
Minimum Qualification
• Technical Diploma or Secondary School Certificate with a vocational trade certificate in the relevant field
Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills
• 6 years of experience,
Professional Certifications
• Maintenance Planning and Scheduling Certification (MPS).
