Local company is seeking a highly qualified and experienced UAE National Translator/ Editor for Abu Dhabi, UAE location. The position will translate written data analytics reports and products from English to Arabic and Arabic to English. The translator must ensure meaning and context are maintained and create glossaries or term dictionaries. The person would be responsible for tracking, improving and safeguarding the quality of Arabic content which includes translation, editing and performing quality check.
Duties:
• Translate a variety of documents including data analytics reports, research papers, technical articles, scientific papers, educational and commercial materials in fast-moving entrepreneurial environment with competing deadlines and priorities.
• Read through material in English, ascertain understanding of the meaning and context of that material, and convert to Arabic making sure to preserve the integrity of the original text and meaning.
• Translate online materials, videos, television, radio and other media products
• Proofread, review, and edit other coworker’s translations and offer feedback
• Refer to online translation tools for additional assistance with translation and make recommendations for such tools
• Provide Director of Analysis with quotes and estimations for completion based on project length and level of complexity.
• Consult with subject matter experts and colleagues who authored the products in order to understand specialized concepts and translate them appropriately
• Adhere to industry quality standards established by the Association of Translation Companies to ensure that all completed work follows legal and ethical obligations
• Should have strong experience in Arabic content writing and editing.
المهارات
• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree. Specialty in Foreign Languages, Communication or Translation is a plus.
• Should have minimum 5 years of translation experience of which minimum 2 years in technical translation.
• Must be a UAE National
• Native Speaker Arabic and fluent in English, written and verbal
• A proven ability to work quickly and efficiently with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to post-edit and/or translate from English
• Proven experience of digital translating/trans creating and sub editing.
• Experience working in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment with competing deadlines and priorities
• Self-motivated, takes initiative
• Excellent proofreading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling and punctuation errors
• Good knowledge of content editing tools
• Familiarity with translation software
• Knowledge of two or more of the following specific subjects: data analytics, social media, international affairs, media, military, communications, and cyber security
• Strong IT skills and literacy in Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
