+The purpose of the position of a VTS Operator is to operate the Vessel Traffic System in order to ensure safe and efficient movement of vessels within the area of jurisdiction.
+ Interact with ships to deliver the VTS services as defined by the Competent Authority.
+ Operate equipment for communications, data collection, data analysis and establishment of a traffic image.
+ In an Information Service (INS) transmit information at appropriate times, at the request of a vessel or when deemed necessary by the VTS, for example a sudden deterioration of weather conditions
المهارات
+Minimum of Second Mate certificate “class-III” with 3 (three) years’ experience as navigating officer on a Merchant Marine vessel.
•Previous VTS and/or Port operations experience will be preferred.
•Recognized IALA VTS Operator Basic Training V-103/1.
•Ex-Navy Petty officers may be accepted a VTS operators, subject to A minimum of 5 (five) years prior VTS operator experience,
•Good command of English Language.
Note. Nominations of VTS Operators not holding second mate certificate “class-III”, may be accepted conditional to holding appropriate IALA recognized qualification for the specific rank with a minimum of 5 (five) years previous VTS experience in the nominated rank.
