• Analyse, design, and plan complex server, storage, and database systems to ensure robust, high-availability service delivery, including replication, mirroring, load-sharing, distribution, and backup facilities and tools.
• Deliver projects, tasks and changes assigned within time and quality defined, including implementation, integration, configuration, upgrade, and testing; and updating databases, tools and reports accordingly.
• Perform administration and operational routines (daily, weekly, monthly) on the areas of responsibility.
• Pro-actively monitor server systems and services, health, performance, backup, and security; ensure overall service availability is maximised, and always maintained above 99.95%. Take pre-emptive actions to minimize service downtime. Work with the Tools team to ensure event monitoring, follow-up, and reporting are fine-tuned to bring maximum value to availability management.
• Follow up calls and requests from the Service Desk and Operational Monitoring teams within the timeframes defined; prioritising and escalating as necessary. Keep the Service Desk and key users updated throughout the lifecycle of a call; update the Service Manager system, clearly specifying progress and resolution details.
• Actively participate in problem isolation and resolution, change management, and finding the best solutions to client requests, through the existing processes and procedures.
• Manage capacity within targets and propose changes or upgrades when utilisation is above 60%.
• Develop and implement contingency and continuity plans; evaluate risks and recommend mitigations.
• Handle serviceability with vendors; contribute to support agreements and underpinning contracts.
• Manage server system security as per security policy (including security updates, access control, authentication, virus and vulnerability protection solutions).
• Assist with establishing and maintaining technical standards, policies and procedures.
• Ensure complete knowledge of responsibility area (service/domain/vertical) and how it is affected by changes and projects. Keep relevant knowledge and information systems updated, and provide clear documentation, information, schematics, and reports as required, including on server utilisation.
• Assist with other projects as requested. Keep relevant Project Managers and team updated on task status and progress.
المهارات
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, IT or related discipline – or higher
• ITIL v3 Foundation and Interim qualifications as a minimum, preferably ITIL v3 Expert.
• IBM Certified System Administrator, and IBM Certified System Expert (in Enterprise, Virtualisation, or High Availability). IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert would be preferred.
• IBM Certified Deployment Professional, Specialist, or Architect in other IBM fields and products would be an advantage (eg Storage, Cloud, Tivoli, Service Management).
• Training in replication, mirroring, load-sharing, distribution, and backup systems.
• Project management, data centre, security, quality and other Service Management training and/or certification.
• At least 7 years’ experience in designing, implementing, integrating, and supporting enterprise IBM server, storage, and database systems (including hardware, software, operating systems and applications setup, configuration, testing, and maintenance).
• Experience in major hardware and operating system upgrades, and in complete restores; assignments or projects delivered in customer-facing disciplines.
• Strong knowledge of Service Management deployment and Project Management.
• Excellent knowledge of IBMi/AS400 administration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance-tuning, related to a distributed, multiple-application environment.
• Excellent knowledge of IBMi DB2 management (PF, LF, Referential integrity, SQL scripts)
• Experience in Backup and recovery procedures using BRMS
• Experience in Data replication through MIMIX-HA
• Experience in managing partitioned systems, using journaling, remote journaling.
• Advanced knowledge of system design techniques, integration and testing; high availability, continuity, clustering, virtualisation, storage, and consolidation; data centre systems, cloud computing, and hosting.
• Substantial understanding of business requirements and analysis.
• Strong knowledge in security (policies, audits/assessments) and quality.
• Good knowledge of network components, configuration, connectivity, topologies; as well as routing protocols and technologies.
• Excellent client service and interpersonal skills; enthusiasm for analysis, discovery, efficiency, automation.
• Up-to-date knowledge of new technologies, standards, and solutions; comfortable with technology, demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning, obtaining appropriate certifications, and developing skills.
• Strong organization, planning, and time management skills.
• Punctual, reliable with strong work ethic; ability to work autonomously and to provide strong support and leadership to the team, keeping a positive outlook throughout.
• Solid values of integrity, commitment, and self-improvement.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including detailed reports. Fluent in English and Arabic.
