MAIN DUTIES FOR DATA CENTER OPERATORS
To support the Data Center (24x7 on shift basis) and maintain high quality and professional standard, by the following means:
Responsible for monitoring, controlling and/or setting-up data center resources in accordance with established procedures within a Data Center. Monitor activities and performance of all IT systems and applications in the data center effectively utilizing software tools
Troubleshoots issues that may cause system outages & report on any issues to support groups when necessary. Initiates corrective action promptly. Interfaces with necessary customers and/or business support groups and escalates issues to appropriate persons accordingly.
Monitor and verify the UPS, Fire Alarms, Generators, Air conditioning functional in Data Center. Monitors the physical environment in which computer systems are housed. Ensures the security of the environment, and that the environment is adequate for optimal system performance. If not, co-ordinate with support groups to get them working.
Receive, monitor and process all batch processing tasks for failures and scheduling problems jobs in IT environments.
Execution of all backup tasks for various Operating Systems, applications and Databases as per engineers & DBAs procedures/instructions.
Execute and monitor all data center scheduled activities and joins.
Act as first level Service Desk support to solve certain technical and/or customer problems within scope of defined standards. Log and classify received Incidents, undertake an immediate effort in order to restore a failed IT Service as quickly as possible.
Handle incidents and keep all concerned parties informed about status at agreed intervals.
Pick up the customers calls from the community in timely, pleasant and professional manner. Resolve customer reported IT problems remotely as being first line support and provide proper guidance to callers inquiries.
Use of the current Service Desk software for logging, resolving, transferring, updating and closing of the service requests and Incidents from the users.
Following the process and procedure in place and recommending any required changes based on experience in handling and reported issues.
Ability to handle multi-task and support various users at once. Must be capable of following a job to completion.
Conduct ad-hoc assignments and projects as directed by the Management based on the business requirements.
