Principal Objective: A brief summary of the responsibilities of the position.
Provides professional architectural support within a multi-discipline engineering environment to the program projects with particular emphasis on promoting and maintaining the technical adequacy, uniformity, and quality of the project designs in conformance with approved standards and codes.
To answer A/E reviews, preparation of engineering/design contract RFP’s, review of PC/EPC contract based design/shop drawings and materials, construction trouble shooting.
Interfaces with other sections/disciplines of the Department.
Completed Work may also be performed in collaboration with A/E or other design professionals.
Organizational Relationship: A brief synopsis of reporting relationships i.e., reports to, supports section, group, etc.; interfaces with senior management, clients, etc.
Member of Technical Support Section of the Engineering Department professional staff supporting all MYAS projects.
Reports professionally to the Supervising Architect unit. Interfaces with project management staff. Other Royal Commission Departments and contractors.
Interfaces with other engineering disciplines, project staff, other RC/MSC Departments, A/E representatives, and construction contractor’s representatives
Major Activities Performed: List the major job function(s) of the position.
Perform Architectural work to meet the overall city development program requirements and standards Review A/E contractor design drawings, specifications, and calculation submittals, and, coordinate the same with work of other disciplines
Coordinate Architectural/Engineering activities with those of other disciplines and project management team within the Engineering Department, and, also Royal Commission Departments as and where necessary
Provide technical advice to other sections within the MSC and the Royal Commission
Prepare proposals for design work including sketches and cost estimates for labor, equipment, and materials
Process submittals/substitution requests during construction and address RFI’s Prepare technical specifications, conceptual schemes and scope of work descriptions Prepares Request for Proposal (RFP) documents with design concepts
Provides technical assistance during pre-bid conferences, proposal evaluations, and post-award or other contract conferences and value engineering
Reviews vendor and shop drawings, and construction materials Performs field inspections and provides professional field support and construction trouble showing as necessary during construction phases
Perform forensic support work and offer cost effective optimal remedial solutions
Assist in setting out Quality Control (QC) terms related to Architectural construction materials and their correct usage
Prepare interface layouts and provide solutions for conflicts Prepare quality and presentation conscious technical correspondence, reports, and studies
المهارات
Experience and Qualifications: List the background experience required for the position, number of years experience, in what fields. Describe the desirable academic background A recognized university Degree in Architecture (B.Arch.) with 10 years post-graduate professional experience.
Design experience related to large scale community development with emphasis on site development is required specifically on the following areas:
Considerable knowledge of the practices and principals of design
Must have sound overall experience in problem solving field-based engineering and construction trouble shooting
In depth working knowledge of US Architectural and international Building Codes
Extensive experience with building use classifications and analysis for fire safety and life safety codes
Extensive experience with building technology and materials
Strong/working experience of AutoCAD. Working knowledge of 3D modeling software is a plus
Knowledge of computers and basic software applications: MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English is essential
U.S. registration in the appropriate discipline or U.K. Chartered Architect with Corporate (full professional) membership of the appropriate Institution (PE) or PMP) is required
