Job Description and Requirements
Position Overview:
Supervisory field position in building, architectural and related landscape construction methodology, application of architectural techniques on minor and major building projects.
Responsible for supervision of architectural work that is under implementation by contractors, including; including softscape and hardscape for residential, commercial and industrial/municipal projects.
Provides technical guidance and expertise to ensure completion within established budget and schedule, in accordance with contract specifications, drawings and contractual obligations.
Receives administrative and technical direction in terms of broad project objectives from Resident Construction Manager (RCM) or Senior Resident Construction Engineer (SRCE).
Frequent contacts requiring the capability to persuade, influence and/or motivate all levels of contractor representatives. Frequent contacts with senior management and client representatives.
Job Responsibilities:
Provides guidance to contractors regarding schedule, procedures, scope of work and technical requirements.
Monitors contractor’s building architectural finishing work activities. Reviews activities of subordinates to ensure field operations are adequately monitored and all necessary tests and inspections are conducted.
Develops a close working relationship with contractor. Provides technical guidance in interpretation of specifications and drawings for architectural work.
Reviews contractor’s plans, methods, equipment, staffing and productivity; and detects potential problems in conforming with established schedules and specifications. Reviews problems with contractor to determine whether proposed actions are adequate for resolutions.
Reviews shop and as-built drawings submitted by contractor, and coordinates approval of same.
Identifies and reports on discrepancies in original design or in contract documents which necessitate contract modifications.
Reviews submitted construction, quality assurance and other procedures, and obtains necessary approvals.
Review and oversight of landscape for the construction of hardscape and landscape related works pertaining and associated with residential, commercial and industrial projects.
Coordinates with other Departments including Engineering, Buildings and Urban Planning
Recommends approval of schedule changes in sequences of construction services.
Compiles technical data to prepare weekly and monthly reports on project progress. Conducts or directs facts finding investigations and advises RCM or SRCE on problems in meeting schedule or specifications.
Assists RCM and/or SRCE in administration functions and initiates correspondence to contractors and other departments for RCM’s signature.
Reviews and verifies that items submitted for billing on Work Estimates are justified. Determine percentage of work completed and reviews contractor’s invoices for architectural works.
Advises contractor when not acceptable or of necessary corrective action or additional documentation required.
Assists in coordinating the compilation of relevant documentation and the determination of actual events and situations causing contract delays and/or claims, and in evaluating validity of claims.
Experience and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from western recognized university with minimum of 8 years of field experience in the construction of major landscape project including public buildings, schools, auditoriums, colleges, offices, residential developments, and substations.
Field Construction or working knowledge for supervision and construction management of; contract quality assurance/quality control, multi-craft and discipline construction coordination practices, space sizing and utilization, finishing materials and Landscaping. Experience with Construction drawings, Shop drawings, Material submittals and selections, and appropriate and applicable codes, standards and other architectural requirements.
Must obtain KSA Driving License
Candidate should be LEED certified
Must be able to communicate in both spoken and written English skills.
Knowledge of computers and basic software applications: MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), read construction schedules (Primavera and/or MS Project). AutoCAD is a benefit, but not a requirement.
