Reviewing medical records and assigning appropriate codes to diagnoses, procedures, and services using standard coding systems such as ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS.
Ensuring accuracy and completeness of coded data to ensure appropriate billing and reimbursement.
Collaborating with healthcare providers and billing personnel to resolve coding-related issues.
Auditing medical records to ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulations.
Staying up-to-date with changes in coding regulations and guidelines.
Maintaining confidentiality of medical records and patient information.
Communicating effectively with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients regarding coding and billing issues.
المهارات
Postsecondary certificate or associate degree program in medical coding or a related field.
Certification from a recognized organization such as the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) may be required or preferred by some employers.
Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
Proficiency in standard coding systems such as ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS.
Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of medical records and patient information.
