Role description:
Ensure Contractor submittals are compliant with sustainability Contract documents ahead of construction works commencing and acting as subject matter expertise.
Manage and mentor direct reports.
Assess and report on the sustainability progress and extent of compliance to achieving certification targets to support the site supervision management team in ensuring that the works are completed in accordance with the contract.
Support Senior Site Representative in Administration of the Construction Contract.
Liaise with certification authorities on all relevant project technical matters to ensure acceptance and compliance with certification and submission requirements.
Role accountabilities:
Comply with all Arcadis policies, procedures inclusive of health and safety plans and site supervision manual.
Actively contribute to the health, safety and welfare of self and others through identification and reporting of potential health and safety hazards in the workplace
Maintain knowledge of current LEED and Mostadam standards and interpretations.
Collaborate and coordinate with all engineers (Consultant/Client/Contractor).
Review project technical & progress reports by contractor related to sustainability.
Prepare responses to technical queries / RFI’s on items related to or impacting sustainability / certification targets.
Take an active role in project progress and technical meetings.
Notify Senior Site Representative on project time, quality and cost risk.
Maintain progress records for tracking progress v/s programme.
Prepare draft letters to support Senior Site Representative administer the Contract.
Review technical aspects of variations and claims.
Support Senior Site Representative with project close out procedures.
Manage and mentor direct reports.
Proactively interact with sustainability certification authorities.
Develop, communicate, and train the concerned teams on sustainability requirements associated with project’s construction activities.
Perform regular (minimum on a bi-weekly basis) site sustainability inspections & relevant reporting.
Ensure that the project complies with its sustainability specifications and certification targets by overseeing and reviewing the contractor teams; implementation of all the relevant measures.
Review and oversee all Sustainability data collection at the Project for timely documentation and reporting.
Generate, document, submit and present sustainability progress and reports to Client / to Client appointed representatives.
Coordinate with the site teams to ensure the timely resolution of all Sustainability issues, during the construction phase.
Have sound knowledge on identification, assessment, monitoring, and management of LEED BD+C v4 and Mostadam Buildings construction submission requirements, reports, drawings, photos, studies, drawings etc. packages.
Prepare data monitoring, database and report templates for the contractor to implement throughout the construction stage.
Review of Contractor submittals (shop drawings, as built drawings, materials, method statements) with respect to Sustainability compliance.
Review & approve materials with respect to Sustainability compliance.
Coordinate with the relevant project members/subcontractors to ensure full implementation and compliance with Sustainability processes.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant professional discipline
Must have a minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in the sustainability construction field in GCC, particularly working on building projects and must have a minimum of three (3) building projects that have completed LEED v4.0 BD+C certification at the construction stage.
Green Building rating qualification as LEED AP (BD+C Specialism) is preferred.
Have specialist knowledge on LEED v4.0 Construction submission, review and approval process, and knowledge on applicable national and international environmental laws, regulations and standards.
15 years post graduate experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience in UAE and/or KSA
Competent user of Microsoft applications
Valid driving license
Must be fluent in the English language and the language of the works Contract (spoken and written)
Must be able to work proactively within and manage multi cultural teams
Must have excellent communication skills
Must work professionally and in an ethical manner whilst representing Arcadis
