Summary
Responsible for delivering care to patients in intensive care units of hospitals and healthcare facilities. Their duties include evaluating the patient’s conditions, administering treatment, and providing constant support during recovery.
Education / Qualification Required:
• BS Degree in Nursing
• Associate Degree/Diploma in Nursing
Experience:
• Minimum Two (2) years of clinical experience in Emergency Department
• Minimum four (4) years of experience with Associate Degree/Diploma in Nursing
License:
Current and clean license to practice as a Registered Nurse
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical Practice
• Provides direct patient care utilizing the nursing process
• Demonstrates knowledge and clinic assessment skills
• Documents nursing interactions on the patients clinical record
• Supervises care provided by maintaining high visibility (90% clinical presence) to patients/families and staff in the clinical area(s)
• Completes assigned responsibilities within established hospital, divisional and unit specific guidelines, policies and procedures, standards, protocols, etc.
• Demonstrates effective communication and collaboration skills when interacting with patients/families, other health care team members and staff of other departments
Administration
• Staff Management to include recruitment, education, training, evaluation and development, as well as preparation and delegation of work schedules and workflow
• Provides managerial support as required
• Provides leadership and resource role in the provision of patient care and unit activities
• Assists staff in development of problem solving and decision making skills
• Maintains all records pertaining to the operation of the area of assigned and generates reports as required
Education & Research
• Participates in unit orientation for new employees
• Assists and supports staff in the development of their roles on the unit
• Uses research/current literature in the provision/supervision of evidence-based care.
• Assumes responsibility for own professional growth
• Participates in teaching and mentoring of Nursing, Medical and Paramedical Students, Interns and Residents
Quality
• Complies with Hospital Infection Control and Safety Protocols
• Develops implements and participates in Quality Improvement Processes activities
• Participates actively in the quality improvement program of the area(s)
• Anticipates and acts to maintain a safe environment
• Works with members of the health care team in activities designed to improve patient care outcomes
• Monitors effectiveness of standards of patient care and nursing policies and procedures, appropriately refers deviations

• Serves as a professional role model, teach and resource person
