Summary
Responsible for evaluation, management and treatment of pediatric patients in the field of Pediatric Transplant Hepatology
Education / Qualification Required:
• Basic medical degree from recognized institution
• Post-qualification certification
• Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
• USA: The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
• Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (RCPS-C)
• UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
• Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)
• Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above
Experience Post-Qualifications:
• Minimum Three (3) years after board / equivalence certification in USA, Canada, Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France (DES).
• Minimum Five (5) years after board / equivalence certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece and France (DIS).
License:
Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical Responsibilities
• Provides Inpatient and outpatient consultations, treatment and management as assigned.
• Conducts specialty clinics as assigned by the Section Head and Chairman, Dept. of liver & Small Bowel Transplantation & Hepatobiliary - Pancreatic Surgery.
• Admits patients, Initiates Investigations and ensures all findings are recorded. Assesses patients diseases or conditions to determine appropriate therapeutic modalities/procedures.
• Conducts ward rounds as per policy and reassesses Inpatients under care. Documents all findings in medical records.
• Ensures appropriate patient preparation for procedures/surgery and performs procedures/surgery as indicated in the signed clinical privilege form.
• Assumes shared responsibility with Consultant, Transplant and Hepatobiliary-Pancreatic Surgery for the management of transplant recipients.
• Participates in the On-Call Rotation Schedules for Dept. of Liver & Small Bowel Transplantation & Hepatobiliary Pancreatic Surgery as needed.
• Attends and actively participates in the Morning Endorsement Meeting, Transplant Selection Meeting, HCC meeting and other departmental and divisional clinical activities.
Academic Responsibilities
• Guides and actively participates in the training and teaching of residents, fellows, assistant consultants and junior staff
• Keeps abreast with all of the latest techniques and developments, especially in the field of pediatric transplant hepatology, following and implementing them on a selective basis to improve technical standards
• Participates in national and international medical conferences
• Actively participates In undergraduate and post graduate educational activities and training programs as assigned by section head, chairman and/or director, Organ Transplant Centre
• Directs and advices junior staff on patient management, especially in the field of pediatric transplant hepatology
Research Responsibilities
• Actively participates in clinical, basic and translational research projects and publishes papers In accordance with Research Advisory Council Policy In order to advance knowledge, improve the quality of post graduate education and contribute to the national and International recognition of KFSH&RC;.
Administrative Responsibilities
• Assists the department in the development and implementation of techniques and practices that help maximize the utilization of all resources within the department and across the hospital. Actively contributes to the Division and/or departmental documentation of patients care processes and outcome in the chart and/or Organ Transplant Registry.
• Participates In committees and administrate functions as required.
• Undertakes administrative duties as assigned by Section Head, Chairman of the Department and Director, Organ Transplant Centre.
• Actively contributes to the Division’s and/or the Department’s documentation of patient care processes and outcomes in the medical chart and or The Organ Transplant Registry.
